So there i was, just shopping for nothing in particular and i saw the K600, being sold at rm1,000. as from my previous post, i was looking for a replacement for my K700 and the v3 costs like rm980. no more thoughts, got the K600 straight away!
now the phone is charging, and there's lots i want to ask the experts here.
1. is the screen of the K600 better than K700? i do know that K600 has 262,000 colors which is better, but why does it look worse compared to the K700? K700 screen seems vivid and more lifelife. K600 just kinda blurry and colors too sharp.
2. can K750 themes be used in K600? they both are same screen size and both full page animation i think...
3. anyone can compare the call quality between k600, K700 and K750? what about ringtone volume?
4. in the box there is a USB cable. can it be used for online firmware update, or do i have to use a desktop stand?
that's all for now. bz admiring my new phone ... |

1. Better, and I think identical to K750 and W800 in terms of resolution.
2. Yes, W800 themes too.
3. Don't know. Seems really ok in itslef, though.
4. It could be, if there were an online update service for K600. |

i've played around with k600 for a whole day now and it seems:
1. the screen is the same as K750 and W800, if i am not mistaken. size, resolution and colors is same.
2. themes for K750 and W800 does work on my phone, but with slight glitches. In the pictures thumbnail menu, the background does not show up. do you think this is a firmware fault?
3. the call quality is inferior to the K700, as is the reception strength. therefore, i would assume that the same would be true compared to a K750. the earpiece and speaker seems very low in volume and i can barely hear the speakers in speakerphone mode. one plus point though is speakerphone is finally one touch .
4. my firmware is R1K. what is the latest firmware for K600? sorry i'm lazy to do a search .
5. i noticed an option to turn the phone transmitter off, enabling only the media player. is this the so called flight mode, and why is there no menu item to enable it when the phone is in operation? it can only be activated when switching on the phone, through a pop up menu.
overall quite pleased with this phone, though a bit of trouble txting cos' of the keypad positioning and the concave design of the phone. the joystick feels very solid, and everything else is good in general.

@Falcon786: Yes it does display videos in full screen mode and the total memory is 32MB.
I have to agree with bodum that the joystick on the K600 feels very sold, and it seems it's been designed to be insulated from dust which causes a lot of problems.

@bodum - Good choice ! I think the only advantage of the K600 whne compared with the K750/W800 is it's a - 3G one ! Esato's CEO bought that unit as well !

impressions on the design:
very solidly built, the front part appears to be aluminium and the back is silver color plastic. keypad is deeply set and takes some getting used to, i'm very slow at txt now...phone tends to feel slippery in dry hands, so there's a danger of it falling out of your hands or something. no frictional surface whatsoever apart from the screen, all smooth. however my set is packaged with the wrist strap which comes handy at times.
on the UI, very similar to the K750. media player has megabass, radio can be used as an alarm. message tone can also be customized.
some minor glitches (though this might has something to do with firmware cos' i think mine is rather outdated R1K):
video call camera sometimes turn out red or goes blank completely, no colors whatsoever, after using the main camera.
camera does not seem 1.3MP, lots of picture noise. picture quality nothing to shout about. |

yes, it does indeed reset each time you turn off the phone. can be a tad annoying, but i don't use joystick shortcuts much, or turn off my phone anymore, so it isn't much of a bother. just want to know what the latest firmware is now.
anyways it's good the blinking led is back in a large way. the k600 is a classic, in my opinion.

yeah, just about. but still not as good as texting with a k700 or t610 for that matter. the buttons require a hard press sometimes before it registers. and the firmware does not make proper use of themes. i've read that k600 can support themes for k750 and w800, but some items are missing even though they show up in the preview in SE themes creator, for example the background of pictures preview. the only theme i got to work without any problem is the w800 'equalizer' theme, which is great and really suits the k600 screen.
one other thing to note is how much k700 users have been commenting on my k600's 'small screen'. i do believe they are both the same size, but the screen itself seems small because it's a HUGE phone. |
