P800 - The long wait... |

Is anybody else fed up with waiting for the P800?
It's not the waiting that really bugs me, it's the lack of a release date; well it might be August or September, October, November or December (or even January). It might cost anywhere from 400 to 1000 Euros and even their suppliers and distributors seem to have no hard information.
If this is how see their relationship with their customers shaping up, I think Ericsson will be dropping the partnership like a hot potato next year. IMHO the consumers will be voting with their money and I can't really see any credible competition for Nokia emerging from this partnership.
What I can't believe even more than the P800's shifting release date is that the T600 has taken so long. It seems incredible that a firm like Sony can't sort out their timetables and communicate this to their customers. What about the T300, not exactly state-of-the-art - a T68i in a bigger case - and still no sign of it!!!
And don't get me started about the SDK for the P800. You still have to pay (at least) $500 and the developer website is down more often than it's up. I checked http://www.sonyericsson.com/uk yesterday and it was giving page not found with an Ericsson header for 2 hours...
Are these people amateurs?

Nokia is the one that's always late with releases right now, the P800 isn't late yet, it's scheduled for 3 quarter which is july - september which is right now...
I tried a P800 a couple of weeks ago and it worked perfectly with all the features, that guy that has it (he's married to a girl that developes the software for SE phones) said that has got it to crash even once even when he tried to! |

Me too is somewhat frustrated to wait for the P800.
But my 2 cents:
I just want to remind some of you people that there is a very large difference between "release" and deliver phones!
The last days Nokia have been "releasing" several new phones, but we havenīt seen them on the street yet...
So, in this meaning P800 was "released" long time ago....
Bottom line:
It is the "street-date" that is the relevant date! not when it is "released"/indroduced. |

I think the release date will be jan-feb 2003, and i dont think the problem is the harware, The symbian 7 OS is simply to buggy.
The one i tried crashed like 5 times in 30 mins, and it takes about 1-2 minut to boot the phone. |
