I've recently got hold of a Nokia 6230, which works fully (except for charging, but that's not the problem!). My problem is that a previous owner has changed the security code from the default '12345'. I got it off a seller on Ebay, who says he doesn't know what the code is (phone must be third hand then!)

The phone powers up and works as I say, as thankfully it doesn't ask for any security code on startup. I'd like to find a way to discover what the current security code is, so I can reset it back to default. I've tried a couple of programmes that connect via the Irda port that supposedly find out what it is, but keep getting 'not connected' or 'not supported' error messages.

Is there a 'reset code' for the phone? I've heard that *#7370# is some kind of reset code, will that reset my security code? Any other ways of finding out what this damned code is?

Get the Nokia Service Centre to flash it.

*#7370# only works with s60 devices.

It would cost me probably 2 have it flashed at a service centre. Looking for a home solution if poss, preferably doing it via the ir port.

You can format the phone by doing the following:
Turn phone off.
Press and hold *, 3, Talk.
While still holding those buttons turn on phone.
Continue to hold until phone displays formatting...

thats to format it but am not sure it will reset the code. i have also heard you can do it via cable which you dont have.

How can the security code be calculated from the imei? Suppose i change it from the default 12345 to, say 54321, how does the imei no. help?
Am i missing something here?

Nokia unlock (usercode). This program is part of new Dejan box. She calculate 8-digits unlock code for any Nokia models. Need autorization by Nokia. If you need unlock code - send request to acb2003@mail.ru . Price 6$ code

Hello.

I found a Nokia 6230 on the street. I put in a SIM card in it and it asks me for a security code. I tried the default '12345' but it doesn't work..it says "code error". Can you suggest something please.

Thanks in advance

May be best handing it in to lost property first before claiming that phone, it'll become yours after a month anyway if it's unclaimed, but there's a mastercode generator over at Nokiafree, link's in their top banner.
