Hi, i just purchased a memory stick from a friend (slightly used I suppose), and I was just wondering whether there was any way for me to determine whether it is 100% original, or some pirated version or something?

one of my major concerns is that the write speed is sloooooow :s I'm using a k750i, and with my 64mb(bundled) sandisk memory stick duo three quarters full, and i'm just copying the stuff back into the new 512mb memory stick which I bought (msx-m512s), and its taking about 20 mins...and that should take onli about...what....5 mins no me bundled card ? :s

any help would be welcome. I'm living in Malaysia btw

Much thanks in advance

Kinson.

I was just testing the speed with HD_SPEED (www.steelbytes.com), and my original sandisk 64mb stick had a read speed of 270~300kb/sec, and the write speed of 260kb/sec...while the one I just aqquired, has a read speed of 256kb/sec, and write speed of 54kb/sec????? *confused :s

...Umm..even weirder...the card is reporting 933mb of storage space?? Its a 512mb card...I haven't been able to put something bigger into the card to test the actual space, cause it's taking forever, and its in the morning, i'll test it out tomorrow morning. It took 27 mins to transfer 73mb into the card earlier... :s

Maybe this thread would be real helpful to understand and do something about the 933 MB storage showing up on the card

As far as authenticity of mem sticks go, yes...there are indeed a lot of spurious lots floating around.....The best way to avoid getting a bad one is to make sure you only buy it from an authorized shop or from a trusted source.
t610 > k700i > p800 > p900 > p910 > k750i > I-mate Jam > Blokia 6681 > HTC Prophet > HTC Wizard & Nokia N73 > E71 > BB 9000 > HTC Desire > Samsung Galaxy S > Samsung Galaxy S II & the Motorola Xoom

Hrmmm, my bad, I found a thread regarding the 933mb floating around here: http://www.esato.com/archive/t.php/t-95361

Anyways, i formatted the card using my phone, the speed seems to be much faster now, but i'll just have to wait and see, heheh

thanks
