Difference with Music Mute cables in HCE-26 and HCA-60 |

Hi
I installed the HCA-60 in my car, and used the Music Mute with the HCA-60 to mute the car speakers (worked fine)
I now installed the HCE-26 and this also has a Music Mute, (but i have the Music Mute from the HCA-60 conencted to the car stereo)
My Question is, Which Music Mute cable should you use? the one from the HCA-60 or the one from the HCE-26?

I've not actually installed these items, but from experience I'd say:
Disconnect the yellow Mute wire between the HCA-60 and the stereo and plug the HCE-26 into the carkit and into the stereo.
You'll need to have ISO connectors on the back of your stereo for the HCE-26 to plug straight in... or else some modifications will be reqiured 
What sort of car do you have? What year?

As I have a Nissan, so I cut off the ISO blocks and re-wired the HCE-26 myself.
The Music Mute from the HCA-60 is working fine, Im just wondering why Sony Ericsson have 2 Music Mute cables if you install the HCE-26, it seems strange. |

A lot of car radio dont have a mute option to attach the yellow cable to. Also the hce allows you to play the sound through your car speakers where the mute lead only mutes the sound

The HCE-26 is optional. Using it makes the HCA-60 music mute wire redundant. It's not so odd.
Good work installing it yourself. Do you have some background in Auto electrical?

The yellow mute wire can be connected to a micro relay to interrupt the accessory power supply if your stereo doesn't have mute function built in.
Very few car stereos have speaker interface as standard. That's where the HCE-26 comes in.

I have just gor a Nissan Primastar, ( Renault traffic/ Vauxhall Vivaro ) and would like to know if you have any experience in fitteing SE car kits to these using the mute cable as described in this thread, as I have had one of these for ages, but never used it, but will soon be getting a kit for the minibus, so would like to use this if I can.

Had to Google it to find out what is was.  It's not sold downunder. Can't give you any tips i'm afraid.
I would expect the stereo to have ISO connectors though.
Unless you have some experience as a mechanic or auto electrician, I'd get a professional to install it.
A courier driver I met fitted a Nokia Carkit-128 (for a 3315) to his Toyota Van. It worked, but it took him 5 hours to install, with no radio mute and exposed wiring. 
Same install done properly would take me 1 1/4 hours.

I have no experence in auto-electrics.
I ordered the Nissan Mechanics CD from Ebay (so I could find out how to take Dash apart and also to find out what wires do what)
Then got out my wire snipper and started to snipe and join in the HCE-26.
The yellow mute cable is really redundant, as the HCE has control of the speakers. (all it does is pause your CD/TAPE/MD)
So if you dont listen to your CD player, there is no need to wire it up, but you might as well get it done, as Your Radio will Display "ATT" or something when the mute wire receives a signal |

I have fitted lots of kits, mainly to my own cars, just removed a BT nokia kit, as it is useless, and fitted it to a mates car, and another one to his mums car, and have fitted several SE kits to cars I have owned, but never used this music mute before, as I have never had cars which it would fit. On average it takes me about two hours to fit a kit, and that is a proper install, not a make do one. i will have to get the removal keys, for the radio, off the dealer, and have a look and see what connectors it has. here are some pics of my new motor, so you know what car it is.

Well I'm most impressed. You guys seem to have carkit installation sussed. I installed an estimated 1500 carkits total for the 2 different installation companies I've worked for (mostly Commodore, Camry, Mondeo, Accord, Diamante plus a few BMW's for good measure) and one of my former collegues estimated he'd installed over 7000!

It is a Renault in reality, even has Renault on the rear door glass. Engine is Renault as is the gearbox, in fact the whole van is built by Renault in france, and Vauxhall have one the same, called the Vivaro. The main difference is price, as mine is about £2000 cheaper than the Vauxhall, and about £1000 cheaper than the Renault.

Actually the vivaro, traffic and nissan are made in luton by a company called IBC using renault engines. The factory is right next door to the vauxhall factory and used to make the frontera. I know the vivaro uses a vauxhall radio, but dont know about the others.

I`ve jus got Opel Astra H. And i want to install HCA-60. Where can i find info about specification of all connectors of it. I shall give it to service station.
Have I also buy any holders like hch-61 or hch-60 or HCA-60 has holder ? |

what difference does the hce 26 make? does it mean you dont need the external speaker supplied with the hca 60.
has anybody tried fitting one of these kits to a stereo system with an amplifier ie bose is it more difficult?

YES... How do you interface the HCE-26 to a DECK car stereo, meaning a head unit (minidisk in my case) that only has Line Outs and the system has Amplifiers...
How can we get line out from HCE-26? I suspect that you have to use ONLY the wire (that comes with the HCE-26) that connects to the HCA-60 and forget the rest of the HCE-26... The only thing to find out is the coloring/pinout of that particular cable...
