Hi,
it's about my girlfriend's K508, which we bought last week. after 2 days of usage it is dead, first it showed a white screen while she was trying to save a composed melody, after that it shut off. after switching it back on, some of the caracters in the menu were screwed up, saying instead of "file manager" something like "skspe kks"
some of the pictures on the phone also appeared broken. after that, on the next day when i tried to call her, the phone shut itself off, again showing white screen. i want to mention that she was using as a call picture one of the pctures that i later found to be broken.
so, i tried to reset the phone by using the factory settings and everything went wrong, the phone again showed a white screen and now when i turn it on it start to show a blinking white screen and the only way to shut it off is by removing the battery.
we bought the phone debranded and it was flashed with k500 software, but again it has warrenty, so we retured it, but the "repair" is taking very long, they couldnt tell us if it will be ready till theend of the week. what might got wrong? i believe it was because of a faulty software, but what is taking them so long - they just have to flash it again, haven't they?
unfortunately they can't replace it, it seams that it's not shipped to the shops here any more, that's why we decided to buy a debranded one. |

Last week uh?
Well take it back to the shop with the receipt and get it exchanged for a new one....
Dont try to fix it or fiddle around.... it's part of your consumer rights....
Dont settle for a repair either... you are entitled to a brand new one.... But too late you plum you took the repair option.... now you lost athe right to have a refund too and getting a new fone...
Now what were you after anyway....??
you got 28 days and if you bought it on credit card or paid with a card the statment is proof of purchase and does you the same as a receipt....
1st line of approach exchange... no exchange get refund....
It pisses me off people dont know theire rights...
Never take a repair never accept it.... never.... unless you got no proof o purchase or it is past its warranty period...
too late now...
Dont take this personally.... I see myself in your shoes when I was blind to the ways of the world.... Just feel bad for you now...
hope it all works out man... good luck.

no offence taken:)))
well, there are some problems and conditions, that stopped me from getting refund or a brand new one.
first of all, it seems that there are just wuite a few k508 here in my country. several months ago, when i took mine, it was a part of a limitted offer from one of the local operators. the promotion ended and now it's something like a rare model here. so some shops bought some sets from other countries, imported them and debranded them (a very common practice in my country). my girlfirend wanted to have exactly the same model, but when we started to look for one, we were able to find only debranded ones. and here comes the bad news - the debranded models fall under another type of warrenty here - it's only 6 months, and there is no refund/replace option. you can only replace it to another phone from the same shop. that's because the phones are debranded and they are no longer under SE warrenty, so the shops are making their own warrenty conditions. well, it seemed that the only k508 we were able to find were debranded, so she bought one. and unfortunately, here came the problem. i know many friends with debranded phones and the problems with them are not that much, but in my case it's just luck:((((((((
so, we were stuck with the repair option...
today i spoke with the guys from the shop and i were able to overhear a part of the conversation between the assistant and the repairman and from the part i heard i think that they aren't able to resurrect the phone and they are looking for a replacement, but since there seems to be no units left, they are continuing to search......
i hope it doesn't sound as a fairy tale to some of you,i know that such problems are not common for people living in normal counties, not like the one i'm living in..... |

Heck... That sound a bit daunting.... but by the by... where are you from?
Just as a future reference since the retailers in you country seem to be ripping all of you off (they are). think about that next time you want to buy it over the internet outside your country, paying particular attention to theire refund and return policy also terms and conditions....
I know what the rights are because I had no choice but to learn retail law.... Fun and games when you manage a shop.

i'm from Bulgaria.
another option i could use is that i can exchange the phone to another one, which has the same price, so we'll try to exchange it to a K700 and cover the difference about 20-30 eur). they said to go there in moday, i hope they could fix it/find a new one till then.... |
