Yesterday I upgraded to the W800i. I'm with Vodafone UK, and I have no reception problems using my existing Nokia 6100. The W800i is unable to find the Vodafone network at home or when at work in the office, but it does occassionally find Orange and T-Mobile. I did manage to get onto the VF network by walking outside and finding an open area, but I work and live in a "built-up" town - where buildings can get in the way!

So then I updated the FW to R1N035 using the SEUS but that had no effect on reception. I rang VF and they said it's probably a faulty handset, so I'm going to get a replacement and see if that fixes the problem.

Has anyone else experienced and solved similar problems with poor VF UK reception? Or is there anything else I can try before sending it back? For now, it's back to my old skool Nokia

Cheers

I've tried the online firmware update from here:
http://www.sonyericsson.com/s[....]3_2&zone=ps&lm=ps1_1&pid=10245
I tried a couple of times, but it didn't make any difference.

Over the last 12 hours it's had a bit more success connecting to the Voda network, but as soon as I make or receive a call the 5 bars start to dissappear and the call either fails to connect, or dies after a few seconds with poor sound quality. Most of the time it says "Emergency calls only" or "No network".

Apart from the fact I can't use it as a phone, everything else works fine, it's light-years ahead of my old Nokia!

I dont think theres anything you can do, sounds like a faulty phone....
Voda has quite good reception rate in Canterbury (UKC ), and only if you were on t-mobile; would i think that it may not be a handset problem

Just wait for the replacement one to be sent out.... [addsig]

@T68iKING You're right, must have been a duff handset. Got my new handset, charged it up, and connected straight onto Voda, I've got 5 bars and made 2 flawless calls

Cheers
