Help with smashed K750 screen - Edit: K750 now SOLD |
rickp101 Joined: Jul 13, 2004 Posts: 26 PM |
Is there any way of getting replacement screens for a K750 or is it going to be cheaper/easier to get a new phone.
I dropped my phone and while it still seems to be in working order I can only see the bottom left corner of the screen as the rest has cracked and doesn't show anything.
Will SE fix this do you think or is it going to cost a fortune?
Any help would be appreciated.
Rich

Cheers for that link.
O2 will provide me with a reconditioned K750 for £50.
SE repair centre (ASR Logistics) weren't sure which price to replace screen as it is a new model but said it was either £64 or £93.
Or I replace it myself for £43.
I am thinking the reconditioned model is the way to go as if I try and fix the screen myself I may mess it up or may find that the fall has actually damaged other things. |

Definitely mate, the reconditioned one should be perfect, £50 is a great deal!

And if they let you keep the damaged handset (which I doubt) it could be sold on Ebay and go for anything approaching £100!

Reconditioned set ordered and I still have my old one.
I think £100 may be pushing it a bit but if I can get back any of the £50 the reconditioned K750 has cost me then it will be a bonus.
Anyone here want a broken screened K750?? |

I would be interested if I hadn't gone a bit mad spending!
Mind you, I think the prices of new K750i's have dropped now the initial hype is over, so it may be more like £70-odd, but I reckon you'd get your £50 back no problem! Does it still call in/out OK, and does the camera activate and take pics as far as you can tell? And would it be boxed with charger, etc.?

Yeah I have used it this morning a few times to ring O2 etc.
My girlfriend rang in and it was fine.
From what I can tell the camera works fine although I will check the picture quality when I get home tonight and can transfer it to my PC to check the photo looks OK.
I may consider swapping the screens when I get my new one to check everything is in working order but this will depend on how hard it looks to do this. Last thing I want to do is end up with 2 broken phones
And yes it would be boxed with everything (If I can't find the original box I can use the one the recon comes in)

I'll offer £35 inc Delivery for the K750i with the Broken Screen
|

Thats the best offer at the moment Not sure how much delivery will be (depends if you want recorded/insured) but will look into it and let you know if I will accept your offer.
My new one should arrive in 3 - 5 working days so it will probably be late this week or the beginning of next week.
When it arrives I will literally swap the handset over from the new box and send you the new box and contents with the broken phone so it will come with the new charger, mem card etc.
The phone is scuffed from where it was dropped. There are scratches on the front of the phone in the bottom left and right hand corners and a few other little ones.
Other than that it does appear to be in full working order other than the fact the LCD screen has cracked and therefore does not work.
I will attach a picture here when I get home tonight and can take a photo of it.
I just wanted to be clear of the condition so I don't mislead anyone into thinking it is brand new other than the screen.
If anyone wants to beat £35 then feel free to make me an offer. I am trying to regain as much of the £50 my new one has cost me

I really shouldn't be doing this with my current financial situation, but I'll offer £40 delivered
btw, perhaps you should pm a mod and get them to move this thread to the 'phones for sale' section

Good point, I was wondering if they'd do that, and if it would be blocked just on O2, or across all networks. Sadly the phone wouldn't be of any use to me if it was blocked!
Even if you put it on Ebay even if it was blocked and with a broken screen, you'd get something for it, in fact you might be surprised still!
