K750i and Sandisk 1GB problem |

Hi
I have a problem with loading MP3s on my Sandisk 1GB Pro Duo Memory Stick and not sure where the problem lies.
If the memory stick is in the phone (K750i) which is then connected by USB cable to my PC, the phone doesn't recognise the external memory. (The phone does not see any external memory when connected to the PC since the RIN035 firmware update.)
If the memory stick is put into my PC (Sony Vaio) directly, then the PC says that the memory stick isn't formatted and when I ask it to format it, it says "the disk can't be formatted." (This is not the case with my Sony memory stick which came with the phone.)
I can't work out if the problem is with my PC, phone, firmware or the memory stick.
I've searched the forum for help on this and couldn't get a precise answer so I need your help.
Many thanks
Jai

1st when connected to the PC via USB cable never can the K750i under any f/w revision see the memory card .... FACT...
Have you formated the card using the K750i?
I hope you didnt update to R1n with the card in slot on fone.... But it is very likely you got a duff card....

Hi
Thanks for the fact... I thought I had seen it via the PC file manager but must have been mistaken.
Yes, formatted memory stick via the phone and checked it generally works.
I did have stick in the phone during the firmware update but this doesnt seem to have affected my Sony 64MB memory stick. (I upgraded twice with coincidentally different sticks in the phone each times.)

Does what work? the sandisk memory stick? Well it is recognised by the phone but not the PC and so I can't copy MP3s on to it when it is inserted directly into the PC. |

make a back up of all your stuff if you can and format it in the phone.

I want to rule out any other solutions before resorting to the warranty. Also as the memory stick does work in the phone, I thought it might be difficult to claim the stick is faulty or corrupted. |

I once had a similar issue that was resolved by formating the mass storage device in a fat16... But then it became unrecognisable anywere....
I took it back and it was working on theire PC... they said it was fine and that I should take it back....
I insisted and said the product wasnt working as it was intended and they exchanged it for a similar product....
You do have 28 days to exchange a product faulty.... and any memory comes with a 2 year minimum warranty...
resorting to warranty in you case is just and I see no reason to waste anymore precious time...

Many thanks for your help. I've noted a new discussion on this problem, but will try the warranty on the sandisk...
Thanks again. |

hello word
I have se k750i with 1GB sandisk memory stick duo pro
I flash the fone with memory stick in the fone...and it is ok... but
I have problem with all the files that have a long name (for ex." Absolut Totul Despre Sex (Serial Part. 3) - Moldovence Fierbinti.mp4 "
from the phone manager (with USB cable) I can access the file ... but I can not copy the file. with BT I can access the file and copy.
I belive that is from the software, in FAT16 we can use only files with 8 caracters name and 3 caracters extension.
the mobile can read all the long names, because I belive that when k750i perform format on the stick, it make in FAT32 or FAT32 compatible (or a variant of FAT32). so... i belive that... it is... |
