Bird Flu Strikes Britain. And this time the virus has mutated. It has combined with the human influenza virus and can now spread form man to man. WHO estimates, if the virus strikes in full form it will cause approximately 20 million deaths world wide.
Britain's chief medical Officer told doctors in the country to prepare for the worst when, not if, the bird flu pandemic breaks out.
Sir Liam Donaldson asked the 34,000 general practitioners to prepare an emergency plan to dole out the 14 million doses of vaccines, The Observer reports.

The announcement comes at a time when Europe is taking the possible bird flu pandemic more serious.

It was first discovered in Asia in December 2003. Since then, more than 60 people and millions of animals, mostly birds and poultry, have died.

On Saturday Europe's first cases of bird flu were confirmed in multiple birds in Romania and Turkey.

So....does the countdown begin ???

My family doctor and i had the same discussion the other day. He commented on how easy it would be for this to replace AIDS as the world's number one killer... and wipe out the entire global population in record time....

It is not serious, it is very serious. All this because of the mutated form of the virus. Touch the infected birds, you are infected, stay in the company of a infected man, you get the virus. Watch out everybody.

Your taking this 2 serious ok ive been reading up about this basically its a bird flu which has mutated and can now infect humans but basically its deadly to us beacause our bodies has never had anything like this which means our immune systems wont be able to protect us.
This will be more deadly to young kids and old people.
When it comes scientists will be able to take samples and make a vaccine.
But also for those of you that are healthy your body may also make a cure and be able to combat the flu.

How is that taking it to seriously? It is a serious issue if people die...

who gives a toss really.... We live in such a sick world that is so far up it's own back side the only way to cure it is to start again....

Hell I am not afraid of neither life or death....

And pain as been very close friend...

So if it comes, come on then.... [addsig]

If a serious threat of a rich country being virtually wiped out by a natural virus I’m sure they would be enough money spent on research to find a cure.

IMO Aid’s would have had a cure by now if it was more of an issue in say America than Africa (Africa obviously doesn’t have the money to research it).

IMO a lot of this is scaremongering. I'm not scared, worried or anything yet, and don't intend to unless things get really bad.

The media at the moment is blowing it all out of all proportion and scaring the population (and probably most of Europe) unnessecarily.

There are health scares pretty much every day, and if we took notice of every single one of them we'd all be nervous wrecks. Is it no wonder more people are suffering from anxiety and depression with all this crap floating about?
