i have the S700i from relatively early on, around October or November of 2004 and have not yet used the cradle that costs around $50 yet. my concerns about going to sony ericsson's site to upgrade my software are:

1. it can create/cause more problems than i currently have, which are relatively few (numbers on the previously dialed list is mixed up w/incorrect names; somewhat slow software, etc), so i thought "if it ain't broken, don't fix it". yet, i have the $50 cradle which has never been used, so maybe i should use it before the whole S700i and the cradle have to be sold when i wish to upgrade to the Sakura or the Hermine or whatever.

2. even if the software upgrade doesn't cause more problems and actually resolves some of my current, minor issues, the upgrade MAY delete all my numbers, right? it may delete all my current internet settings, and voicemail settings, right? does anyone know? has anyone tried recently?

my understanding is that this S700i software update thing on sony ericsson's site is only recently made available again, so that's giving me hope that they've made appropriate changes to make this update "user friendly".

any advice/comments would be most appreciated!
