Hey,
I'm getting a T68i in a couple days, and I'm getting a family plan with my mom and dad. My mom has chosen the T61, but wants to know if it's possible to set up an AOL email address with it. Does anybody know if you can send/recieve aol email from a t61? I'd assume you could do hotmail, right?

Also, would the cable that you buy to connect to the computer fit both the 68 and the 61?

Final question..the battery on both of the phones is Lithium Ion, which means you don't have to drain it before you can charge, correct?

A question about service...if we cancel a phone from cingular, is it possible to get the phone number put on the new phone from at&t?

Thanks a lot guys,
Mike

Neither Hotmail nor AOL supply POP or IMAP access, so the email client on the T68i or the T61 would be useless here (I assume you are talking about email client access rather than WAP).

The data cables for the T68i and T61 are compatible (DRS-11/DRS-10 serial or DCU-10 USB).

Lithium Ion batteries, you can top-up these batteries without worrying about "memory-effect" that you get with nickel cadmium.

Can't help with info on Cingular, sorry.

thanks for the info.

I called the at&t outlet near me and they said that the t61 on their network wouldn't be able to get any email, just text messages, but the t68 (and 3 other non-ericsson models) would be able to recieve aol email. I have my suspicions as to whether he actually knew it was aol compatible, because my reasoning for thinking they wouldn't be is that there's nothing to put in for pop3 and smtp and all that. when I told my mom that they said she could do aol mail on a 68i she said she'd probably just get the 68i then, since it's only a little more.

doesn't really make a difference for me, my email is from our cable company, should be easy to set up as i had to do it for outlook, but can anyone tell me if there's a posibility the guy at at&t was right?

aaaand a side note question, do any companies make decent replacement covers for the 68i?

thanks a whoooole bundle,
Mike
