Hi all, my first post here

Just got myself a black , unbranded k750 on Vodafone. All was well until I stumbled across an apparent bug.

If you have a number in contacts (say person 'X' and starts 07919***), and then manually enter a number that IS NOT in Contacts and starts, say, 07719*** but is identical otherwise: the phone incorrectly recognises it as being the number of person 'X'.

This is the same if you receive an SMS from someone with a similar (only slightly different) number that's not specifically saved in Contacts.

I can get this to happen on any number in my Contacts (eg 0780*** in Contacts, 0708** or 0788** wrongly recognised) and tried it on my old k700 and am seeing the same there!

Is this a known bug, and/or is there a fix?

I believe it's not "really" a bug: it is to correctly understand a number whereas you have it stored w/o the international code.
For example my Operator sends all Caller IDs starting with +39 (italy), BUT the K700 can link that number to any of my Contacts I stored without that prefix.

I can suppose that the mobile does not use the very first digits to "understand" a number... and you have fallen in that "feature"!

Bye,
Macco
