I figured it out already:) If you have lot of movies it is recommended to move them into folders and then it works like a charm. If they are all together in 1 folder phone becomes slow..

..and the ram issue. these past days, my p990 wont even finish one whole song! it will kill the media player after around 3minutes of playing. would it be possible to design a software that will define some mb of the internal memory to be "borrowed" and used as ram?hehehe.

@ adolfo

This might be because you are using Swiss Manager Pro with "Cleanup when idle" ticked. I found that this will kill the media player after a few minutes, presumably because it doesn't realise it is in use. The way around this is to highlight Media Player in the list of active tasks and then tap on the "i" icon on the bottom left. Un-tick "Include in end all" and Media Player will have a "#" symbol next to it on the task list. This means that Media Player will not be killed by SMP.

This tip may also apply to other applications you have running (like RSS?). It's sometimes too easy to blame the P990 when it's actually the fault of other applications you have installed. I know because I did!!

Ditto... I would also strongly suggest a format and master reset before the firmware update. I restore only the unified inbox from the PCSuite backup (mainly because third party application backup/restore doesn't work), restore contacts and calendar from memory stick and use Outlook for Notes. This pretty much ensures that corrupted data does not creep back to my P990. Almost everyone who has followed these steps have confirmed much less problems with their P990s.
P990i: A mistake, a curse and a disgrace So I lowered my expectations and settled for a P1i. I couldn't keep my expectations so low for a long time so now I have an HTC Touch HD

now i am enjoying the new firmware of my p990! there are a lot of things added to the new firmware and it starts with 17.4mb of ram on startup.

i only have one concern about this phone, why is it designed for lefties? i find myself not quite comfortable with pulling the stylus in the left side not like my previous p800, p900 and p910i..hehehehe

About P990 stability. I used to manually restart it every 5th day but don't do that any more. It is now full 6 days of heavy non-stop usage and free ram is 11.2mb with acm, mmm and smp in the background. It is working like a charm.
Every day I am more and more satisfied with the phone.

Hi! As for question 2: Tap the triangle in the lower left corner. Choose volume and tap silent. I have removed the flip and yes, it iis a big operation too put it into silent mode.
