It's all down to preference of course, but you could try encoding your files to .aac format. I do that with iTunes, and halve the size of my files. I only encode them @64kbps, but that's good enough for me.
My ears are useless, so I don't really notice any loss of quality or clarity.

i keep mine .mp3 encode to 96kbps
Even then i can hear the difference in quality but will take a 5mb file and make into a 2mb one
google Cheetah Audio converter or DBPowerAmp

Use AAC, the latest SE and Nokia and many other phones support it.
If your encoding music for your phone, use AAC 64kbs in mono |
