Just purchased a car ( BMW Touring )that is fitted with a hands free car kit .
I havent found the actual box of tricks as yet and would not have the first clue as to where it may be, but the mic and cradle are there , The cradle in it is for a nokia phone and ideally would like to be able to use the kit with my Sony Ericcson K750i.

Is there any way of telling which nokia phone the cradle is for by its serial number ?
Will i need a new cradle for the 750i or can an adaptor be used ?
Would it be possible to convert the existing kit to bluetooth?

Ant help and costs involved would be much appreciated

I would say that buying a new cradle and replacing the one you have will suffice in for you or even as you mention buying an adapter (Like the cradle idea better)...

As to turning it to a BT kit well I think not but that depends on how good the kit is and if it supports add-ons...

Usually such things are installed underneath the dashboard so unless your prepared to investigate (carefully) I would recomend given the previous owner a bell and ask...

AS to the current cradle id well have a search for it on google and compare pictures of nokia HFK... [addsig]

@jimbo
Welcome to Esato!

See you local BMW dealer, they should have a range of cradles for most popular phones. Keep in mind that the K750i is a relatively new phone and BMW may not have got around to sourcing a cradle for it.

That BMW carkit is not B/T compatible.
BMW B/T carkits are built into the stereo head unit. Note: some BMW headunits are mounted in the trunk (it's just a display screen up front).

What year and model is your car?

If you can't get a replacement cradle, have a HCA-60 or HCB700 carkit fitted. I understand that Parrot carkits are a good option in the UK also.

BMW's B/T carkit headunit became available in 2003. The cost of upgrading to it would be prohibitive, plus the K750i may not be compatible with it anyway - it works best with T610 and Z600.

The cradle for the phone has Nokia MCCI-GF29-01288 on the label on the back. The wire from the cradle seems to run to the front of the car in the general direction of the glove box.
Can anyone enlighten me as to the likely area that the box of tricks is fitted so i can have a look and see exactly what the model number etc and then get some expert advice as to my options.
Thanks in advance

There is room behind the glovebox for such a device.
