Hi all,
I have an SE V800, an SE P900 which I use for work only, and a HPR-20 radio plugin.
The HPR-20 works perfectly with the P900, just as it did with my old Ericsson T39, but exhibits problems when I attach it to my V800.

When I plug the HPR-20 into the V800, the blue lights flash a few times and then goes dead. The V800 goes into the "Portable Handsfree" profile, and the HPR-20 radio does not start at all. However, if I go to the phone and navigate away from the idle screen, the HPR-20 starts functioning normally! It will continue to function until the V800 screen reverts to idle, and then goes dead again.
I can repeat the cycle as often as I wish, but I'd like to be able to just put the phone in my pocket and listen to the radio - has anybody on here encountered this issue, or got any suggestions about what I should try?
I should also add that the phone works perfectly with the HCH car handsfree.
I was thinking that maybe I need a newer firmware in the V800 - how I can determine the current version? (I have a feeling Ishould know, but cannot remember!)
Thanks,
/Michael

That's kinda weird, looks like it performs only . . . 'half-way' Though I don't have a V800, but my HPR-20 perfectly works with my vintage Ericsson T28s Good luck though - Michael ! [addsig]

Er... solved my own problem, but it's an embarrasing resolution - after flashing my phone to the latest firmware from the Sony Ericsson website, I still had the problem. (Although the menus seem slightly faster now, and the camera click is less intrusive, so that's all to the good.) In despair checked out the troubleshooting part of the HPR-20 manual, to discover that the radio won't work if the "Magic word" feature is enabled on the phone. I turned it off at once and all is well... I feel very silly, but the moral is:RTFM!!!
