Great news. Nokia announces the shipping of N70 smartphone.
N70 will definitely be another big seller like the 6680 and 7610.
- 3G/EDGE
- Series60 Symbian Smartphone Capability
- 2MP camera with flash + 20X digital zoom
- Memory: 22Mb internal + RS-MMC external
- USB 2.0 high-speed transfer
- Stereo MP3/Radio
- 2.1 inch 262K screen
- RealPlayer (streaming video/audio)
- 109X53X22mm, 126g
This phone beats anything that is out there in terms of overall capability and size. So who will be getting this one?

@bobafett:
i think the price will be around 450 euro.
@alextt:
it is the smallest 3G series60. The smallest series60 is the 3230.
I think Nokia has reached the size limit for Series60 (i.e. it cannot go smaller but maybe the weight can still go down a bit in future). It will never be the size of K750/W800 given the fact that Series60 phone physical screen area/size (not pixel) is 40% bigger than K750/W800.
currently the largest dv-rsmmc is 512Mb. 1Gb will be out soon (if not already out)

@mib1800, very good answers. He's right of course. =) Anyway, the specs for the N70 have been available on gsmarena.com for quite some time now, so do check it out if you're interested.

@mib180: thats one disadvantage, being not as big as some other type of memories out there. I saw some Nokias using SD memories, does it mean that Nokia is giving up with MMC cards??
I think this is a good replacement for 6630, that really was a good Symbian phone, i hate the fact that 6680 had worst productivity than the older 6630, i really hope they correct it with this new model. And yes it does look small, and I also think that weithg issue will be solved very soon with the improvements in materials

Be careful on this one. Yes the non s60 phones (S40 - 6270+6280) have MiniSD support. However the upcoming MicroSD/TransFlash memory in the 3250 s60 phone is the first s60 phone to support ANY SD memory format.
Nokia came on-board with the SD alliance just a few months back if memory serves well. Not sure if Nokia is giving up on MMC cards >>would cause a huge uproar with those like me planning on buying an N70. But if they do then MiniSD currently is the best option; they've been at 1GB with 2GB just around the corner and with up to 20GB support in the long term. So we'll see as they say. |

i would think all future Nokia phone would support the SD format.
correct me if i'm wrong but isnt it that the rsmmc card can be used in the mini-SD slot? |

I think there's some misconception here. 3250 supports the micro-sd or t-flash card. Only that would fit into the phone. But with an adaptor (as with rs-mmc), you can use it in any normal sd card reader on your computer. Hope that clears any doubts. =)

3230 isn't the smallest Series 60 phone. E.g. Panasonic X800 is smaller. |
