Hi - new to this forum but just thought I would post my thoughts on Orange and the W800i.
I've been trying to get one of these phones on Orange since it was launched at the beginning of the month, and as I am a very light user, I don't want to be paying silly money (of course!). I see O2 are offering the phone @ £30 on a £19/mth online contract with 50mins and 500texts, but Orange are asking an ridiculous £130 for a similar £20/mth giving 100mins and 100texts. How ridiculous is this? Even calling Orange and asking if they will offer the same on OVP draws a blank!

I know a lot of you guys would say "just move to O2" but I have my e-mail account with Orange and would like to keep my number and stay with them. So much for customer loyalty.

I have also heard some bad press about O2 and their online service.

Orange are just a rip-off.

Anyone else with the same problems?

theres not much difference between customer service these days, but i'd recommend o2 as they do seem to have the best network coverage accross the UK. and also there offering a more competitive deal.

you could bring your number accross and keep it, not sure about the email address.

BTW welcome to esato! [addsig]

Just out of interest - are O2 phones sold online locked only to the O2 network? If not, I would like to use my Orange sim in the new phone. Also, would all the phones functions work normally.

I wouldn't use 1000 minutes!

I need minimum cost ie. £19 or £20/month. Not bothered how many minutes but need about 100 texts minimum.

I just didn't want to pay £130 for the phone from Orange when O2 are offering it for £30 (£5 if your a student by the way!).

O2 branding of phones is a lot less than anyone else. They dont lock their phones either so you can put your Orange sim in it.

That's the plan they offered me, but were asking £130 for the phone!

Anyway, I may just go to O2 and stick my Orange sim in when I need it.

As a new customer, I've taken advantage of the 6 months half price line rental deal Orange have just started offering.

£30 for phone, £25 p/m (therefor £12.50 for the first 6) for 100mins. TCO for the year = £255. Doesn't get much better than that.
