Hi guys, I have a small problem, I have a K750i, unlocked. Firmware version: R1J002 prgCXC125952_EU_1_CL R1J002.
I went to the SE website, I live in the States and have a Cingular SIM card in my phone, but since this phone is not being sold in the US I have to go to the UK SE website, I have installed the CD that came with the phone, I also went though all the steps in the website and once the upgrade begins: "initializing your Device" I get this error:
"There is currently no service for devices belonging to your operator"
I have no idea what to do or why this is happening, please give me a hand! Thanks

1) I thought it wasnt possible to download your own firmware

2) does it not void your warrnty

3) what main advantage is there to downloading as i havent seen any (turning camera sounds off was one i heard off but to be honest is that so important)

@conrad - If your fone is working just fine, welll better leave it as it is mate. 'Sometimes' errors occur when upgrading the firmware of the fones, and it's - inevitable. Good luck though ! [addsig]

Hi JN,
thanks for the reply! I wish my phone was working fine, I am a true believer of the saying: "If is not broken, don't fix it". For some reason the camera sometimes does not take pictures, it beeps and everything but once I press the button all the way it just hangs. Also since I am on this topic, is there a way that you can turn off the sound of the camera when you take the picture?

why do people want shutter sound stopped (sounds sneaky to me lol) also i read somewhere it was illegal but not able to substantiate this

to turn off the shutter sound is dependant on the firmware your using also i believe it doesnt
make shutter sound if your on the phone but i never tried
that

I think it depends on the country as to whether a shutter sound is required or not. It can be annoying and not welcome in some situations. I occasionally take photos of the for-sale notices in my local library to get details and phone numbers of stuff i may want to buy. The library are fine with this normally but you get nasty looks from the librarians when a loud shutter sound goes off, which happened on my k700.

yeh I'm also having the same problem since yesterday that whenever I try to update it says that your operator is not approved to use this service. one day before that it worked fine till downloading files to the pc and then when it was updating phone it stopped after completing 40% and said error communicating device now the camera is not working at all don't know what to do.
yeh using the camera when a call is in progress does shut down the camera shutter voice & sometimes it's needed as I was trying to capture a sleeping parrot but every time it woke up on auto focus sound so it really made it difficult to shoot it in sleeping posture.

For the 10th time @ Esato...

SE have taken the updates FOR the K750I via the WEB from service to EVERYONE....

*Reason

They are morons and cant get things like that right... The files they uploaded were currupt, service was crap and I think monkeys did the programing...

as to the shutter sound it can indeed be disabled...

Only by SE service centers...

cyberjaffa wondered why everyone wants the shutter sound to be muted on k750 but found a way of doing it all you do is hold down # key before entering camera mode (so your in silent mode now when you click your shutter the auto focus and shutter sound are muted

works on my phone anyway dont know if will on all but its worth a try if shutter sounds bother you
