As of 1st July 2005,Pakistan had registered 15.5 million mobile phone connections.The populations currently stands at 160 million.
About 13 lakh new users are coming up every month.Since the arrival of mobile telephony in Pakistan in 1991,about 3,300 users have been added up every day.Mobile phone connections have already surpassed PTCL's fixed line connections by 3 times over.
Mobilink still enjoys the largest market share with 7.5m subscribers(48% of the total) although its market share is coming down gradually.
Norwegian telecom giantTelenor served 839,289(5.4%) people and similarly the service of the UAE-based Al Warid was being used by 508,655(3.27%) people by June 2005.
