I'm not familiar with macro, so I am assuming that this is it.

If you just press down on the Capture button, lightly, for a few seconds the camera kinda zooms in a bit then zooms back out, and most of the text on the screen goes away.

What is this? What does it do?

Macro is for close up photography, when you half press the capture button it autofocuses, you will see the central brackets turn green and it will beep to show its ready to take a pic

macro mode is for taking close up pics. like flowers or bugs.
