DJ Ericsson/Orange -2: No Financial Details Disclosed
STOCKHOLM (Dow Jones)--Telefon AB LM Ericsson (ERICY) said Friday that it has signed a framework agreement to supply multimedia messaging systems to France-based mobile phone operator Orange SA (F.ORA).
Ericsson also said it has signed an MMS contract with Orange France.
The framework agreement means Ericsson will be a supplier to Orange and its 22 member companies. Nokia Corp. (NOK) has signed a similar frame agreement with Orange.
Under the Orange France contract, Ericsson will provide the MMS platform and related systems. It will also provide the services for integration to the Orange network, including integration to existing services such as WAP, text-messaging and e-mail, as well as services for implementation and support, it said.
No financial details of the contracts were relased.
MMS allows phone users to send pictures, text and sound together over their mobile phones to another phone or e-mail address. Operators are counting on MMS to build on the success of text-messaging and help them increase the revenues they collect from each subscriber.
