I just had a call from Orange letting me know that they've got the W800i back in stock, ready to be sent out to complete my upgrade request.

The guy said W800i, but once during the conversation he said K750i, so I corrected him and he said "sorry, yeah the W800i"

I should be expecting my phone early next week. I wonder how much branding the W800i on Orange has, surely it'll still come in the plastic tube packaging? - or will Orange put it in one of their own crappy cardboard boxes?

Anyone else had a call today?

I got mine from Orange a couple of weeks ago. It comes in the proper packaging and doesn't seem thatt branded at all. The icons are the cool ones like on the K700 and there are no icons on the main screen like there was on the K700. Very nice!

I have to admit this has been my favourite phone yet and the novelty still hasn't worn off!

Yay for W800

Excellent! I was hoping for minimal branding since the phone is coloured orange anyway

I'm also upgrading from a K700i and considered the K750i when I saw a mate's silver vodafone one.

Do they not update the website, because it still says it is out of stock there?

I don't know about the website, perhaps it's the last place to get updated stock info. But I do remember being really annoyed that if I tried to get a deal as a new customer on the site, it didn't seem to say the W800i was out of stock.

Oh well, I just hope they send me the right phone

Hmm, got my w800 as an upgrade through orange. Ordered last friday (16th), and it was delivered on the 19th. Sadly I was in France so had to wait til tuesday to start playing! I guess they keep a stock and the website isn't updated that often.

Crafty buggers! I ordered my upgrade on the 12th and phoned every 3-4 days to check on stock. I asked what would happen about the new tariff they offered me and they said it would go onto my account on the next billing date after they get the phone in stock and contact me to tell me they're sending it.

Surprise surprise, my billing date is on the 22nd, and they phone me on the 23rd to tell me the phone is in ... meaning I pay more money for fewer minutes until the 22nd of October now..... as I said... crafty buggers!

Gooner Girl,

Looking to upgrade to one of these on Vodafone (can wait a few days). What sort of deal did you get? Any negotiating hints?

thanks for any thoughts

I got mine through the Car Phone warehouse two weeks ago and gave the O2 Sim card to my sister.

Good thing is that few phones in the CPWH are locked. I love the phone.

Hi Joan

Well, I did get one in the end but not from Vodafone...
I rang and asked for an upgrade. He said, yep, sure £150 please. I said no thanks!

I then rang back and he quoted me the same price. I told him that I could get it cheaper elsewhere and was quite happy to change networks so he cut it to £75 but then told me that that they couldn't send it until Oct 10th at the earliest.

So, I went into Phones4U where I got my phone last year and they said they could do the upgrade then and there. To get it free I would have had to increase my tariff from £35 p/mnth to £43 p/mnth but could change it back down after 3 months, thus making the phone £27.

BUT, when I agreed to this she then was told by 'management' that it wasn't released on Voda yet and they weren't sure when it would be.

So, I took the other option which was change to O2 for free phone and £35 p/mnth tariff which included more texts and mins than I had from Voda. So I think I'm happy.

I did feel though that Voda were no longer falling for the threats to move network. He did go through some spiel with me about it but I couldn't make sense of what he was saying. I spoke to about 3 different people and got the £75 quote each time so I guess that was their best price.

But, despite the things I read about Phones4U, I have got three top top range phones from them for free and have found them really helpful and knowledgable so a positive vote for them!

But so far (and Mac issues aside) I love the phone. Any doubts I had are completely gone. It's gorg!

My W800i arrived this morning!

It looks like a quality phone, a big step up from the K700i in features, build quality and sound quality.

I can't wait for my new 500 xnet anytime minutes + 30 text tariff to kick in next month for £25 /month

Thanks Gooner girl. Good shopping. Unfortunately, O2 doesn't work very well at my place, so I'll probably end up switching to orange.

@jakester @odie - I can't see that deal on the orange site. sounds perfect. Where did you find it?
