hi there....... well its time for that annual upgrade and im trying to decide between the k750 and the w800. i like the looks of the w800 and the use of the mp3 player but im worried that the housing gets dirty easily or may start to turn that awful yellowish colour over time.
ive seen the dummy phone of the w800 in the shops and they were absolutely filthy.
does anyone who has the w800 find it hard to keep clean???
this is the one thing puttin me off the w800 |

i have had it for a month now and it hasnt gotten dirty yet. As long as you dont handle with mucky hands it should be fine i think.
My Sony micro hi-fi is the exact same colour and i have had that for about 3 or more years and the remote control is used every day and not turned as nasty colour.
I keep my hands clean and my electronics stay clean and dont get damaged by dirty (except for god dam dust in the joy sticks as i work in a dusty environment but its easily fixed)

so would you say the w800 is a better option over the k750??? im glued to my ipod but its a pain in the butt to fiddle with an mp3 player and a phone all the time
everytime i say 'ok im going to get the w800' i start to have second thoughts... but that is just because of the dirty issue hehe |

I have never had a mp3 player before, some people on here comment that they prefer to have one of each because a dedicated mp3 player is easier to use in way of transfering much, sound quality.
For me the W800 is wonderful, one of the best phones i have had. For music it is much better than the K750 (as it should be). I dont change my list of songs often, maybe 3 times in the last month. I have a 1GB memory card and it fits a good amount of music for me. It great because you have no need to carry round 2 gadgets.

Mine isn't dirty at all. If it does get dirty after a few months Ill just give it a wipe over with a wet wipe or alcohol wipe. It certainly wouldn't put me off gettin one of these bad boys! |

Just had a chat to someone at Vodafone because I want to upgrade to the W800. He said that he was going to buy it but was put off by the fact that the phone gets very dirty after a short time. Now I don't know whether he was just saying that because I was being quite difficult about the price I was willing to pay or whether he was telling the truth. He was trying to sell me the K750...

The white bits of the w800 housing are painted so any dirt will just wipe off. It does have a semi-gloss effect but mine is staying clean....so far!

I did wonder because the dummy phones at the CPW felt rubbery and I could see why they were filthy. Vodafone chap said that the cream bit was made from a funny material. I've only ever handled the dummy phone so I don't know if the real thing is hard or spongy.
I wish I knew because I'm sooooo close to ringing back for the upgrade!

Hi... get a handphone wrap for your phone...It's kinda a new trend here in Singapore. It helps to protect your phone from mucky hands, sweat and even scratches up to 7 years!!!...the best thing is you can remove it freely without any marks... works for me... This here is my 2 weeks old W800...not a scratch! Got it from G-Mask

had my w800i for a good 3 months now. daily usage, often with dirty hands - had no problems what-so-ever, it just wipes clean! the guy in the vodaphone shop was talking crap. unfortunately you really can't trust a word shop assistants say these days as they rarely give proper impartial advice, which is a real shame! their main incentive is to sell you the phone that makes them the most money - they are not bothered about providing you with a phone that best suits your needs/desires! so in my book if you like the looks of the w800i then go for it as the white colour does not appear to be degrading with time at all!

@jens - If you are more concern re: the fone's covers than it's contents, then might as well get the K750i mate, Good Luck!

I have had mine for a week now and I got it a bit dirty from below, but a quick wipe with a dry cloth brought it back to shining new. I am sure its not normal material, definitely something different and good! |
