Thats the BookReader i used, its a great app, you import text files into it & you can change the font style, colour & size & the background colour to your preferences, its just a shame you cant view pics in it as well

I've asked this before, are these books public domain? None of the usual ebooks sites seem to have Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter available yet. I speak under correction, of course. Does the link mentioned here offer any other public domain ebooks as well?

Max, thanx for the links. Here are a few more- http://digital.library.upenn.edu/books/new.html
http://www.manybooks.net/
http://www.geocities.com/ebooknokia/etextlinks.html
http://www.memoware.com/
Possibly my query wasn't clear enough. What i'm asking is whether the ebooks specifically mentioned in the first few posts are public domain, since i cannot find them on any of the public domain sites (yet). I speak under correction, but to my mind if these aren't public domain they shouldn't be distributed as freely as they are, unless of course permission has been given by the publishers. I've seen so many topics discussing warez and how Esato doesn't allow the posting of such links, yet it would appear that there's a subtle difference between warez and non-public domain ebooks. I may be wrong, of course. Wouldn't surprise me if i missed something.

Kryptik, thanks for those links also.
Don't be hard on yourself, you are quite correct. Certainly legally speaking, neither Harry Potter nor Lord of the Rings are in the public domain.
However I don't believe esato are responsible for everything members do or say. As long as it's not blatant and over the top I don't see a problem.
Anyway, sharing works is a form of advertising. For example I've bought many cd's on the basis of mp3's I've downloaded and liked enough to want the original high quality audio. In fact I try to keep most of my audio on cd as well as mp3, so the more they let me download music, the more I'll buy!! |

Hehehe, i hear you, bro. Do try to download some of Cory Doctorow's books, brilliant tech-fiction. I truly enjoyed all of his stuff, and have subscribed to his mailing list so i get to preview all his latest work. Try to read Eastern Standard Tribe, it's check out his ideas of what cellular will be like in a few years, the whole story being quite spell-binding. I think manybooks should have quite a bit of his work...
