vodafone k750i firmware update? |

The saga begins.. have been quite pissed off with the new firmware release and the fact that Vodafone have not yet got round to sorting out their version, so I contacted SE via email- reply ‘the release of that software is for Vodafone to decide please contact them’
So contacted them… had to explain to the girl what firmware was!!(Should have given up at that point) when mentioned ‘flashing my firmware’ I’m sure she almost fainted!!
She eventually spoke to ‘technical department’ (the spotty kid next-door)
‘You need to take your phone a Vodafone shop and they will flash it to the latest software ‘ rang the shop- ‘we used to when we had service centres but now you have to send them in to be serviced’
Fell like I am being given the run around by both companies
So should I wait to see when its released or should I go to da-vinci and flash my k750 to de-brand it and get the latest firmware??
Have visited the site and the software says you can now unlock the k750 with the dcu 60 cable has anyone tried it yet?
When will they release it??? |

Hi. I've debranded my Vodafone K750i with Davinci and it definitely works with the cable that comes with your phone. I flashed mine to EU_2 just to be sure I could update the f/w cos I read elsewhere that another guy with EU_2 had done so.
It takes a while to get used to the debranded software but it's definitely faster than Vodafone's! Also be sure to re-download Vodafone's MMS and GPRS settings off their website (the K700i's settings work fine, no K750i yet). |

@woodie: That was probably the best post that I have ever read on Esato!! That bit about ‘flashing my firmware’ cracked me up big time......
Thanks for brightening up my day.
PS: I also have a Vodafone branded K750 here in South Africa (sold by local operator Vodacom), and am also waiting for them to hurry up and release the new firmware. |

I am having exactly the same problem. I am getting closer and closer to just using Davinci - I don't want to wait around forever. It will probably take several months for Vodafone to update their firmware - I'm sure it's not a big concern for them.
The only thing that worries me is the possiblity of voiding my warranty. But I'm almost prepared to take that risk because I want better firmware! |

The new firmware is now available for the South African Vodafone K750's, so I presume the other Vodafone regions will be available soon...?? |
