Contrast / Gamma On K750i = ( |

hello...
did anyone ever noticed that photos & videos & themes on the LCD of the K750i are washed out & too dull?
please bear with me here.....it's a 262K Hi-Def Screen..... i know that but it has its gamma set too high (about +0.4 on a photoshop gamma scale) if you wanna check it out, get the Eternal them & rename its extension to TAR & unzip it so you can see what's inside. you will notice all the files that make the theme...check out the standby wallpaper (the animation) see how it's beautiful dark red...now , put your mobile next to the computer screen....can you see the deference?!
now they say that there is a firmware updated (R1N035) that actually addressed that flaw...so.......
did flash my K750i to R1N035.......
it worked fine & everything was in place EXCEPT the improved gamma/contrast of the LCD didn't update & the screen is still 100% the same!!! it's really bad since the only thing that caught my attention in this update when i was reading the (what changed) log, is the updated gamma/contrast!
did anybody notice any changes in the LCD after updating?...more contrast / better colors?
thanx |

Yeah I noticed a VERY slight difference. It became SLIGHTLY less washed out.

You are 100% right
The gamma setting is exactly +0.4 to high
I found this the moment I got my k750 a long time ago, and wrote alot about that then, because I make alot of themes.
Since then all my themework is made with gamma -0.4 to compensate for this on the phone, and they all look very crisp. The screenquality is very good if you make this compensation in Photoshop
It still annoyes me though, because I never need to do anything similar when creating themes for the K700
R1N035 did not entirely fix it, but it did change the gamma setting to perhaps +0.3, there is a difference but it is small.
The best would be if more people than me wrote S//E about this, but I havent found many that found this to be a problem like me

i really share your agony since most people don't find that kinda flaw in the display....we all know that it's optimized for daylight viewing & it's very good under that condition......but when the light is dim...man...it looks like a cheap LCD
making themes is another story altogether LOOOL for me, i made an action in photoshop that dose all the gamma stuff.... but i feel that when you change the gamma of a photo, you lose some of it's information (you can see that when your doing grads or smooth transition in colors especially dark ones) but i guess there is no workaround for that! & about the people who will send e-mails to SE tech support about that, count me in!
