The Good:
I paid $409 through Comp-U-Plus. By calling T-mobile customer service I was able to receive a $150 “upgrade” credit. I argued politely that I was a good customer (7 years), my current phone was broken (which was true), that T-mobile was planning on carrying the k750i (D750) in the near future, and that my other option would be to go to Cingular. I did have to ask to speak a manager after initially being told no, but the persistence paid off.
The Bad:
Comp-U-Plus. Instead of receiving the Oxidized Black model, I received instead the (limited edition) silver version. I know this is all a matter of taste, but I don’t like the looks of the all silver model with just a black keyboard. Similarly it was a matter of “looks” why I chose the K750i over the W800. I called Comp-u-plus and they were very rude, saying that the picture of the black version on their webpage is “for illustration purposes only”. Eventually I got to speak with a manager, who was again rude, but agreed to ship me a black unit. After further argument, they agreed to pay for the shipping cost to me, but would not pay for my shipping cost to send the silver unit back. A full week after originally ordering I have the new unit (looks great!), with a total shipping cost of $35 ($15 for the original silver k750, $10 for the memory stick (robbery! – it was in the same box), and $10 for me to ship back the silver unit). As expected, Comp-u-plus put an additional hold on my credit card for the second phone. If they wind up charging me, I will report back with further complaints.
