Its ok to charge the phone while its off. the only difference i found is that, it gets charged a lot faster than when the phone is on.
Apart from that its perfectly ok!

Thanks very much. I won't care how long it takes to charge while it is on as long as the chemistry of the battery does not get demaged.

my phone charges faster while it's on (presuming you don't play with it while it's charging). i also have impression it's charged better while it's off. so i try to charge it while it's off at least every 3rd or 4th time.

How do you know when its fully charged?
I used the z600 before. The light used to be red when still charging and turned lime when fully charged.
But with this one, it only turns red when I plug it then back to lime then the battery icon animates. But it is no easy to see that animation when its almost fullu charged. |

press a key, 'c' e.g. and the light will turn on temporarily.

I never switch my phone off, even at night when I'm asleep.
I leave the phone on charge overnight - no problems so far.
