Hi,
I have noticed that the screen backlight of my K700i in stand-by mode (display light set to Power save) makes a fast blink sometimes (as fast as one of my old glorious SE T39m green led blinking, indicating that the network is present).
I really don't know how frequent it is and if it is really constant in time. I suppose that it happens once every hour more or less because sometimes I notice it when I leave it on my desk and don't move or touch it.
It happens also after going in power safe without locking the keyboard if you leave it inside a menu and go away.

Has anybody else noticed the same strange phenomenon?

PS: my K700i is unbranded and has the latest R2AY004 firmware ver. without the ugly camera sound in silent mode...

Ciao!

I've noticed that on T610s, the screen seems to 'blink' especially when charging. I'm just about to replace the screen on a K700i, I'll have a look at it once I've replaced it and see if that does it too!

Thanks for the answers.
I will check it better...

Sure one time I have left an open SMS and then I didn't use it for 1 hour (and the keyboard wasnėt locked) but for sure another time I didn't leave open anything also because the keyboard was auto-locked...

Let's see, then I will post again...

PS for Sammy_boy: during charging time I have never noticed the screen blinking (even if I will check it more...) and also I really hope that my display is all right, the mobile is 05W10 (= march 2005!) so is quite new...! During normal use (light on) it's working right I don't notice anything wrong...

Fixed the screen, can't see any flickering on my K700i, despite it looking like an early model with the firmware version that time forgot and having lead a hard life by the looks of the phone

Though when in standby mode I've noticed that there seem to be 'lines' running horizontally across the screen, in the same manner as a CRT monitor does if you look at it through the corner or your eye. It's barely noticeable, and not really a problem imo, pretty normal

I mean... I don't have really any big problem with my screen in any use, I was just wondering if this behaviour is normal thinking that it could reduce the mobile power-on time...bacause blinking constantly, even if it's only once/hour, it's a good ammount of energy I think...
I can't see any "running line" in my screen during stand-by time also because it's turned complety off... it only "wakes up" unexpectly once/hour sometimes...!

Ah, I think I've been understanding - you mean that the display will light up by itself occasionally for a brief moment?

If that's so, it's probably just a small firmware glitch

I don't know... maybe... I hope not!
But I will check if it happens really always or just in some special situation as a reminder... today I haven't notice it but I nearly had no time to look at it and check... I hope tomorrow I'll have more time...

No one has never notice the same "glitch" on another k700?

Hi, I have definitively found the solution:
gangstagreek was right...
the screen blinks sometimes just for remembering you that you have left something open (SMS, calculator, game...) and also the keyboard isn't really locked, you fill it immediately because if you press a botton the backlight turns on and you can start doing again what you have left open before.
Ok, now I fell better because it isn't a firmware glitch but it has a logical meaning!! Probably the first time I noticed it, I didn't give the right attention...
Anyway I hope this can be useful for many other "K700people"...

I think the discussion is over now!

Ciao and thanks again!

I've never noticed that on either the K7 I used to own or the one I have now - although both have/had early firmware versions - perhaps this is a feature of the newer versions?

I haven't had any previous version but I can assure you that it works fine on my K700i R2AY004... after having noticed it and discoverd the meaning
