Hi!

Just wanted to ask if disabling the 'sleep clock' shortens the battery duration of my W800? Thanks!

Apparently, however I run my clock but don't seem to have any problems with batt life. You may be able to save 5% if you are lucky. Of course if you use the phone a lot it will make less difference, but if you use the phone rarely but it sits on standby for a long periods of time, then it will make more difference (the clock sucks standby time only)

Ehh... do you mean I should, in order to save batt, leave it enabled or disabled? :?

Disable it to save battery. Turn it off. That means in standby you WON'T see the clock.

Are you guys sure that having the clock as screen saver consumes more battery than not having a screen saver at all? How come, when apparently, the screen activates far less screen pixels when the clock is on?

if you want to save the batt, dissable it, however what I'm saying is that you probably won't notice much difference in the battery. If you leave it on standby for three days, then it may help you get another few hours of standby.

Try it a few different ways and see what works best for you. I use the phone a lot for pics and mp3's and I never run out of battery. Then again I charge it most nights also.

The clock is too useful to me personally to consider disabling it.

I though that disabling it would use more power because it leaves the color screen on, just, not backlighted.

Are you 100% sure that by disabling it I'll preserve more power?

I'm surprised as well regarding sanjeevjaya's and max_wedge's replies.

Could you guys enlighten us as to why is this so?

if you turn the clock off it mean you get a black screen.
no pixel is displayed so you wont consume LCD power there.

I though that at start but... if you turn it off, and look at the screen, the same screen that was displayed stays; just that it's non-backlighted.

Unless I did something wrong? Maybe when you are on some menu, the phone won't go to that standby mode and still display the picture of the menu?

Go to main screen, the one with the time and operator name. then keylock your phone. You'll see your screen saver. It will show for a few seconds. Now the next part is where you'll notice the difference. If you have turned on the clock, you'll see it appear, if not, you'll see a blank screen, no pixells are used. It does save battery, i'm sure of that. But as someone already said, it is probably very minimal and dependant on your type of usage.

Ah I realize where my thinking went wrong.

Without the clock, the screen blacks out on sleep mode. I initially thought it stays displaying the UI without the backlight.

"...it stays displaying the UI without the backlight....":
Isn't that what it does? At least... when I tried, the screen remained the same but 'backlightedless'...

Nope. My screen turns completely blank (as if the phone is turned off) when it goes on sleep mode, when left idle after a while.

If I have the clock on sleep mode turned on, my screen "goes blank" (like above) but now has the clock on it.
