Hi all

I've had the K750i and done the full housing change to the W800 and am having 2 problems with the phone now.

The first and main one is that the camera button will now now work properly. I can press the button normally to get the lens to focus which works fine, but then to fully press it to take the picture I have to press incredibly hard. It does still work, but needs a lot of force to do so rather than the normal gentle click after focusing. I have already taken the keypad out and makde sure the rubber button inside is aligned correctly and it definatly is. Any ideas?

Second is that the earpiece volume is a lot quieter now, even with the volume turned up fully. Looking at the 3 holes on the housing tho it looks like they are not lined up with the holes underneath in the speaker and is causing the sound not to come through correctly. Is there an easy fix, or am I needing to make a new hole in the housing in the correct position over the speaker?

Thanks

Nick

Well it was bought via cnn.cn's ebay auction for it. Would you say it would be a fake then? If so thats fine, I'll have to source another as I like the keypad use over the stock K750i one. I did think that cnn.cn was a decent site tho?

Any other comments? Thanks.

I have seen bad things from cnn.

Here is someone who bought a w800i from cnn:
--------------------------------------------------
This was ordered on a Saturday and reached me Wednesday. Efficient indeed!

The bad is that while some parts are original (actual SE parts), some look OEM. The keypad, front and back faceplates and orange frame are original, but the rest of the buttons are OEM. The most glaring were the joystick button and the MS Duo rubber cover, which were not very well moulded.
Nice try with the display lens, but it was also noticeably OEM as its edges were rough and it was obviously made from plastic. The original SE lens is made from scratch-resistant crystal, and has no rough edges.

Overall, as good as you're going to get for just $30. But be prepared to reuse some of your original parts.

Definatly interesting then. I did not recieve either a joystick button or the duo cover, just used the ones I had from the stock case. I would also have said that the display cover seems as good as the stock housing.

Is there anywhere else selling them you could provide details of?

Thanks.

Well after 2 hours of trying I've sorted the camera button out!! Works even better than it did in the stock housing now, it feels lighter to press before working.

I decided to put it all back in the K750i housing to see if that solved it, but as I had the phone in pieces before rebuilding I noticed that th rubber behind the camera button was not the same size on the stub which connects to the microswitch as all the rest. I could also see that the rubber on all the rest of the buttons was a much thinner and softer rubber than the sandard buttons. Problem was I had already taked the stock chrome camera button out the k750 on and tried that to no better effect.

The solution I've done is to tek the rubber off the back of the music button of the stock housing and stick the chrome camera button onto it, after first removing the softer rubber part. Glued that on anyway and remounted everything in the W800 housing and the button works straight away.

So seems that it was not the actual casing, as I still would say mine is geunine SE, but the buttons which most likely are not authentic.

I have also while the front cover was off drilled through the centre hold in the inside plastic to try to allow more direct a path to the earpiece speaker. Will test that later to see if it's helped or no. Even if it's not I'm happy to leave it as is now.

Cheers

i have that same problem after switching out the housings. I will try that later.

i still have problems w/ the other buttons on the middle housing though. I cant seem to aligned the rubber part of the button on the housing w/ the button on the circuit board of the phone so the buttons are not working correctly. been tryin forever to line them up, just wanna throw my phone against the wall now.
