Try cleaning the contacts with alcohol. Make sure the phone is turned off and the battery is out while doing so. And while you are at it you can clean the battery contacts as well and the contacts the feed the battery.

I have a similar problem, but my K750i is 4 days old and the contacts are pristine.

In short, the USB cable works for a variable amount of time (2 minutes to 20 minutes) then the computer loses connection, and Windows claims a device that it can't identify has malfunctioned. It then installs the dummy "BadDevice" driver and the only way to recover it is to go into Safe Mode, erase the SE K750 from the "USB devices" tree, and then reboot normally. The next time the USB cable is plugged, this repeats itself.

Firmware is R1L002 (Camera 4.4) and with these connection losses, I'm not sure upgrading the firmware would be a winning option.

[edit] OK! The USB hub was having trouble coping with the added power requirement of trying to charge the K750i. Now that I've plugged the power transformer for the hub, everything works. Lesson of the day: if your USB connection is having trouble, make sure you're not plugged to an unpowered hub. [/edit]
