Hi

I have just got a K608i phone (3 branded K600i).

Anyway I notice the globe icon stays on virtually all the time, is this normal?

I know on my old T630 the globe was only on when you were connected online.

I must say the K608i is a great 3G phone, it looks cool and the build quality feels really good!

maybe it's not the globe, it's the 3G icon.

It's the standard globe online icon, as my T630 used to show when online ie. using WAP, email or sending an MMS.

You cannot edit/view the wap settings so it may well be an always on setting thats fixed.

It had disappeared a few times, only had the phone 24 hours so not noted when.

The 3G icons is a white box with some sort of swirly thing inside it, may say 3G but it's not very clear.

Zippy: change the mode of th ephone in connectivity -> data comm -> preffered service -> CS only

And that should make sure grps disconnects when its not used. (you won't break anything by doing this)

That option is not on the menu.

In data comm I have 3 (connection name) and close connection.

I cannot view/edit the 3 connection as it says locked when I click.

Close connection does nothing, as in the globe remains.

Ok, i have a V600i. Same phone different F/W. The globe icon only dislays when connected online. The 3G icon is a red square whith the 3G icon in it next to the signal bar.
If the globe icon is on perminantly then i wiould be contacting the network to try and get an idea if you really were always connected

You cannot disconnect I have tried, pressing back from standby does nothing (it used to work on my T630)

I have already called 3 customer services, but they are in India and the woman did not understand what I was trying to explain to her - so I gave up.

I am interested that the V600i does not remain connected all the time though, the question is is this affecting battery life?

I bet the setting is within the connection settings, which are locked so you can't even view them...

I got a reply from 3 email support, the globe icon shows that packet switched data is available, whereas on my old T630 it showed that packet data was being transmitted

So the icon should be on most of the time.

hi,

the "3" branded k608i dont have

setting connectivity -> data comm -> preffered service -> CS only option...

so we are stuck in the ps/cs mode

btw, i think we can change the connection settings... (data com, internet settings)
