I fail to understand why god needs a sacrifice to keep him happy! And i don't want to make this a religious thing either... Why do you consider an animals life to be of less significance than that of a human...?

Because we are superior to animals, I think!
And some mentioned animals and emotion?? If I call a sheep an ugly smelly little thing with sh!t in their wool, will it cry to its mommy??
You taking this to far, as long as you not abuse animals and respect as being food, its fine with me.

hes not taking it too far, jus becase the animal will not cry doesnt mean it is inferior to us. if you go to a japanese man and say you smell like dog poo, he wont cry because he doesnt understand you just like the animal

japanese man has no significance, i jus chose someone who wouldnt know the same language as us, the point im trying to make is that you said the animal wont cry if you insult it, its because it doesnt understand english just as a foreign person wouldnt

@neo, uh I think you misunderstood the point.
Hanging and slitting the throat is NOT halal.
Thats painfull.
Halal actually means to kill the animal in the name of God and trying to let the animal feel the minimal amount of pain.
How do we know? Well we've killed enough people and science has taught us a thing or two.

how exactly can science find out how much pain the animal feels? its not like you can ask it after its dead

screw it, i'm sure you can do a bit of research to figure it out.
if you're saying animals can feel the way humans do.... then doesn't there show a correlation?
Plus I'm sure those evil science guys have done a few expirements to try and show that.
But just in case I do have to provide info.
If you sever the nerves from the body to the brain there is no emotion.
You're probably going to say, "but what if animals can feel things that we dont or have emotion even after the nerves are severed"
well science shows this as impossible, but if it isn't, then I guess it's too bad, and at least the Halal way tries, it's better than doing nothing.

@amnesia, there is no such thing as "humane killing". If i killed somebody you love in the manner you mentioned, would that be humane? The fact is i took a life whether its human or animal, it has every right to live its natural course. I do not wish too go in circles... This is a discussion and i welcome all your views. I do not think a broken leg is a valid enough reason to kill a horse!

WARGH HA HA!!!
Vets all over the world will shoot a horse dead if it has a broken leg!!!
Theres no quick painless (for the horse) way to fix it! A horse will just suffer for years and years with a broken leg!!! - So they have to kill it, for the horses sake!! |

I thought you asked my opinion on the horse thingy. I said it is not correct to kill a horse due to a broken leg...
Would you let a relative die just because he is in pain?
Although i support the idea of terminating a life if its a terminall illness and he has no chance of survival.
Do not tell me you eat a terminally ill chicken or goat!
You're killing it just because you think you have the right to do so..and because animals can't oppose!
