Returned my K750i due to dust behind the screen about 3 weeks ago and had a new one. Noticed today that this one now has bloody dust behind the screen. I keep the phone in a non dusty enviroment and it's well looked after.....I find this really annoying.
Have decided that I am just going to put up with it as seems will just happen again. Come on SE, how hard would it be to make a sealed screen? |

I'm afraid this has been a common drawback of nearly all phones i've used and tried...except for the P-series maybe... The t230 was the worst in this department.. should seriously ponder over this nagging shortcoming..

Getting dust under the screen in 3 weeks, while at the same time stating to take good care of your phone and keeping it in dustfree environment, is really a contridiction in terms.
If its a dustfree environment, then where do the dust come from.
I never ever had dust under the screen of any phone I have owned, and I've owned many. My old T310, T610 and K700 still looks and functions as brandnew, and so does all my phones. No dust, no joystickproblems, no scratches.
Use a proper mobile carrying case, with antistatic covering inside, instead of keeping it in pockets, purses or other strange places where many keeps them.
Pockets are static dust magnets, they kill joysticks with dust, and dust creaps under the screen, they kill phones with static electricity or moist from sweat.

Fully agree with numb on the contradiction in terms. I am not aware of any components or porcesses in the manufacturing of handsets (SE or other) that could generate dust internally. For dust to enter the (relatively) protected phone and appear inside the screen, the poor thing must have been subjected to lots of dust.
My experience also confirms that - none of my phones ever (the most recent being SE: a T68i, then z600, now S700i) have had any dust behind their screens. And I don't even use those anti-static cases and even carry the phones (shock horror!).. in my pockets: trouser, jacket or overcoat - as per season. In my extensive travels I even go to some pretty.. dusty countries. Not a single dot inside my screens.
I have to admit I thought I had a particle inside my Z600 lens - making a black dot on pictures, but it turned out to be a 'dead' pixel (or several) on the CCD.
Just keep your phones outside dustbins, guys - and try not to swim with them, that's all the care they need!

Thats strange.. My friends K7 was cleaned thrice and from the next day dust starts entering the screen. He tried various methods to stop it and finally ended up selling the phone. And he took good care of his phones.. Although the same cannot be said for my T230, i had it cleaned twice too...but from the second day itself, dust started accumulating inside. Do note that i haven't faced these kinda problems with my now five month old nokia.

Yup same here, i carry my phone everywhere, with my psp also, to work and back every day, psp perfecr, k750i, full of dust???? Strange, but then my nokia used to do it to....
Strange thing is, i must polish my house like 5 times a week, there is not a spec of dist, i guess it comes from your pockets and stuff.
And not every phone is the same, tiny imperfections in the case, or the cover mounting, can mean all the difference per phone.

the solution for dust under screen is to go buy those air compressed can and spray into the phone or wherever open that you think dust can get in. It works for me, keep my phone dust-free and clean looking all the time. AND IT DOES GET RID OF DUST UNDER LCD. |

Are you really being as bloody stupid & pedantic as you appear?
When I stated I keep my phone in a non dusty enviroment, I meant that I do not work in a saw mill or factory.....of course I know dust must have entered from somewhere! The point I was making is that my phone is only ever in my pocket and I think it is unacceptable that SE do not seal the screen to protect it in such an enviroment. I have had countless phones from all manufacturers and the only problem I have had is with 2 K750i's.....to me this indicates the problem is with these rather than how I treat the handsets.
The reason I started this thread was to have a moan because I was annoyed it had happened twice and also to see if other members had experienced similar issues. If I had wanted a lesson in semantics and linguistics I would have asked for one. |

What a superb quote mate!!
"pockets, purses or other strange places where many keeps them"
Apart from talking like Gollum, you are also spouting drivel! It's a bloody mobile phone....how the hell is a pocket or a purse a 'strange' place. Where do you keep your's?....have you made a little pouch out of baby kangaroo skin that you have surgically attached to your outer right leg? That would be slightly strange!!

No, my poor thing has not been subjected to lots of dust!!
I never had a problem with my S700i either. This was probably due to the fact that the build quality is 100 times better than the K750i and also that SE used a SEALED screen....do you see?
This thread is not about phones with sealed screens....it is about the K750i and dust under the screen on this model.
Do you have dust under the screen on your K750i or is it o.k?
Do you have a K750i??? |

As a follow up. Returned my K750i today and the retailer agreed that it was totally unacceptable that dust should have gone behind the screen. He gave me the option of another handset (3rd time lucky) or a refund.....I have taken a refund until I know how to proceed.
The retailer also advised me that he has had an inordinate number of people complaining about dust behind the screen with K750i's and in his experience it was a problem that SE really need to address. The guy even showed me his K750i that had dust behind the screen but he said it didn't bother him as it was only his 'shop' phone.
Maybe I have just been unlucky, but as this guy verified here is a definate problem with the K750i and the way the screen is sealed. It is not a case of me not taking care of my phones, it is a case of SE's poor manufacturing and cost cutting....IMO, the whole build quallity of the K750i is barely adequate.
Am now using my old Nokia 7610 which because of the xpress on covers also suffers from dust occasionaly. At least with this it is a straightforward operation to remove the cover and clean it.
Am really annoyed as loved the UI and everything else about the K750i but the dust issue really drives me mad.....will only return to them when I am satisfied the problem is solved.
BTW...If you are lucky enough to have a well sealed screen, good for you. This doesn't mean that if someone else has a faulty product that it must be their fault.
