Dam! Am I trapped with Orange? |

I've been with them since the week they started - a pretty loyal albeit unrewarded customer.
However, I'm fed up! Why? Let me explain...
One of Orange's original unique selling points was the ability to have 2 lines on one sim card on one phone. A very attractive proposition for anyone wishing to separate business and personal calls.
However, Orange seems to have forgotten some of their highest spenders of late (i.e. me). I spend a fortune on a 2 line service and yet all their recent own branded smartphones (i.e. SPV 500, 1000, 2000... and very probably 5000 although I cannot find confirmation of this), do not allow for....you guessed it, Line 2 calls.
I'm left with the choice of getting something old (P910 or Nokia Communicator Series) if I wish to surf the web and have Office applications (i.e. word, excel etc...) or purchase the Treo 650. Dam, thats annoying.
So, I've decided to move. At least I would if I could....but I don't think I can. You see, I not only have Line 1 & 2 but also a fax line (and a data line that I don't use).
So, my extremely long winded question is this: Will any of the other service providers allow me to transport my Line 1, 2 and Fax number as well as provide a smartphone that will enable me to use all three of them?
Many thanks for any comments or observations. |

I assume that you are in the UK? If you are then you are stuck with Orange as the other networks dont offer 2 Lines. You could get Orange to give you one of the top of the range phones that dont have line 2, sell it on Ebay or here on Esato and use the money to buy a decent phone that does let you use line 2.

Yes,it's best if u talk to them.If u tell them u quit, somwthing my come up.Also,u can call O2 or whoever u want to ask em if u can port ur numbers to them and if they offer the same kind of services. So,the newer phones wont allow Line2 or is it the operator?

Thanks for the replies, people.
To clarify: Money is not the issue - quite happy to pay up. Simple problem is the only new (ish) phone Orange offer that will support the following:
1. Line 2, and a dedictaed fax number
2. Word, Excel (and Powerpoint...although not crucial).
3. Decent size screen to surf web
...is the Treo 650!!!
All their other new, Orange branded smartphones (i.e. SPV range) do not support Line 2. I'm wondering if there is any way I can have all 3 requirements above by using 1 sim card on a phone with an operator in the UK. |
