Can anyone tell me what advantages/disadvantages one product has over the other?
Thanks!

Both are CSR based devices, both use the same WidCOMM Bluetooth Stack.
MSI = Class 1 Device
Rated up to 100M (when paired with other Class 1 Devices)
actual support from MSI (Driver and Firmware updates available)
BILLIONTON = Class 2 Device
Rated up to 10M
Does not have the annoying *DISCO* lights on the MSI
Note that most devices are CLASS 2, making the MSI's power rating mute..
As for the price, I believe the Billionton is cheaper.
Here's a sizewize comparsion

Thanks for the info Are you certain that the MS-6967 is class 1? From reading the product information at
http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/per/per/pro_per_detail.php?UID=326&MODEL=MS-6967
I always thought that MS-6968 was class 1 and MS-6967 was class 2. Does it say specifically in the product's documentation that the MS-6967 is class 1?
If what you say is true, then getting 2 MSI BT USB adapters should give me a max theoretical range of 100m, yipee!
Do both the MSI and the Billionton support the headset or audio BT profile?
TIA,

In the philippines, the msi 6967 is cheaper than the billionton by more or less 1 thousand pesos. In terms of actual range, msi users have reported better performance over billionton adapters.

I'm looking at the MSI Bluetooth Key box, on the box it states
Transmission Distance: 10 ~ 100M
note, that only CLASS 1 devices can reach 100M..
The ringer is to go to
http://qualweb.opengroup.org
Click on qualified products, stick MSI as the company name and here's what you'll get
Your search found 2 qualified product(s). The product(s) are shown below. Click on the headings to sort.
Bluetooth Class 1 USB dongle MS-6967 MSI (Micro-Star International) Computer accessory PROD 2002-07-16
Bluetooth Class 1 PC card MS-6968 MSI (Micro-Star International) Computer accessory PROD 2002-07-16
Also note how much bigger the MSI is compared to the Billionton (they are both CSR devices), the difference can be attributed to a poweramp..
The qualification file can be downloaded here - it states it's a CLASS 1 device..

The TECOM BT3030 / Belkin USB is a Class 1 Device based on the broadcom chipset.. It's pretty cheap too uses the WIDCOMM stack. |

@beatrix, 619
this is supposed to be a thread for comparing MSI and Billionton.
For similar BT discussions, you can try the generic BT thread.
(Thanks Arnoldc. i thought i was reading a different thread. but the Tecom got mentioned na e )
