Hello.

Last night i drank a little too much alcohol and dropped my k750i into a glass of champagne.

I took it out immediately and took the battery, sim and memory card out and left them over night.

This morning as i came to take apart my phone i noticed that i need a special screwdriver (t6 torx screwdriver) which i dont have and wont be able to get untill tomorrow as its sunday and the shops are closed.

Is there anything i can do in the mean time to try and save my beloved phone from a drowning?

Thanks.

You should try and get rid of the champagne before drying it out as it will dry and get sticky, when you get the t6, first thing to do it give the case a wip with clean water and if there is some on the actual lcd use a special lcd cleaner.

Someone mentioned on here quite a while back that he dropped his phone in water then put the phone overnight near a heater or radiator and the next day it was working. The radiator might be a good idea to dry out all the champagne inside

thanks ill give the heater thing a go. Ill have to be careful not to fry the circuit boards though.

Is there anything else that i can open the screws with? I tried a tiny allen key but it was a little big for it.

I just hope the little soldier pulls through.

Not a clue what else you could use... Maybe use a hairdrier once you have it open and you've cleaned out as much as you can with a clean cloth. Best of luck to you, mate

Well I dropped Champagne on my powerbook and the electricity was still plugged in so that fried the main board so taking the battery out hopefully helped. I wouldn try and dry it just yet as when you do the champagne is going to get pretty sticky on it..

So at your own risk try and open it up and get a damp cloth and wipe away as much of the champagne as possible..and then you stand a better channce drying up WATER than champagne.

Yes, put the phone (still keeping the battery etc. out) somewhere warm like an airing cupboard for a day or two so everything completely dries out.

Whilst doing this, you can get the T6 Torx screwdrivers off Ebay for a couple of quid, or see if anyone here on Esato has one spare.

When you get the screwdriver and take the phone apart, DON'T use water on it, you need something alcohol based - I find Isopropyl Alcohol surgical wipes (e.g. Sterets) are excellent for cleaning up PCBs. You need something alcohol-based as it will evaporate.

Thanks Sammy.

I took the phone apart today and cleaned any liquid traces i could find on the phone but as i took the silver backing off the screen i noticed that there are lines going across the back of the lcd.

This could be the champagne right??

Is it best to leave it to dry or try and open the lcd and wipe it clean?

Dont think my last post was very descriptive so here is a picture of the LCd with the silver backing off:

Original image (liquid under screen)

Edited image (To show liquid more clearly)

I have left this to dry in a warm room for 3 days now and it still hasnt made much progress.

The marks on the screen could be permanent I'm afraid, I've seen them before from water damage and it doesn't go away very easily!

In my experience water damaged phones might be ok at first but start getting faults soon after. I have never managed to bring back a water damaged phone back from the dead.
