My K750i has always been a bit flakey with bluetooth, not able to maintain a connection to either my Logitech or Jabra headsets for more than a couple of minutes. I've been putting up with this (which has basically meant not using headsets) as I really like the phone and hoped it'll be fixed in a future firmware release.

Yesterday I thought I'd give the headset another go, tried to re-pair it and got connection error and the phone froze. So I had to remove the battery to get the phone to restart.

Now whenever I try to turn bluetooth off or change bluetooth settings the phone completely freezes. If I leave it 10 minutes then it sometimes flashes a plain white screen and reboots with bluetooth off, but then constantly resets itself every few minutes until i remove the battery and start it up again, at which point bluetooth comes back on. I've been through this cycle several times and the problem is consistant. So last night I tried reflashing the firmware on the sony update service (it said "your firmware is already up to date, do you wish to continue..") to which I said yes. The flash was successful but hasn't fixed the problem.

I really don't want to loose all my numbers/settings so I have a few questions really.

Is there a way to do a complete settings/ringtones/contacts backup over the usb cable? I can't use bluetooth as it freezes the phone.

Is there anything else I can try to get the phone working again or should I be returning it as faulty?

I'm trying to be a happy sony-ericsson convert but the shine is definately wearing off

You can use fma or my phone explorer to backup your contacts and messages ect. As for your pictures and ring tones transfer them to your pc as a backup.

As for your firmware if you have R1L then this is the latest, however there are rumours that se are going to release a new firmware soon, we all need to be a little patient with this

Have you tried a master reset to see if this resolves your problems?

Thanks for your reply. I'll try and get everything backed up and then do a master reset to see if it helps. I do indeed have R1L firmware.

Hi atconc

I'm in charge of more than 2,000 K750i phones complete with HBH-662 BT headsets, and yes I have had a number of issues with white-screen reboots.

A couple of issues I've found:

  • Don't use silent mode whilst using Bluetooth with a K750i. More often than not the phone will crash.
  • As the K750i is Bluetooth 2.0, a number of BT 1.1 (and BT 1.2) devices don't like the fact that BT 2.0 keeps poling any device in range for EDR (Enhanced Data Rate) compatibility. They return a invalid response and crash the phone! Try turning on the power save option; this has been known to fix this issue.

has new firmware to be released before the end of September that will get around the disconnection/crashing issue. I know, I'm testing it.

Well the master reset didn't help and I still can't turn bluetooth off, Vodafone are delivering a replacement tomorrow.

I'll try the powersaving on trick once I get the new handset, hopefully that will give me a usable connection to the headset until the new firmware is released

...And the replacement phone is:

The wrong colour
Broken
Vodafone Branded

Oh happy days.

My previous phone came direct from Voda but wasn't branded, new one has vodafone theme, modified menu structure and voda live button instead of shortcut button

This one seems to have a large bubble in a plastic film under the glass/plastic of the screen, all round the sides and bottom of the screen.

Hopefully the next replacement tomorrow will be black as specified and not have a defective screen. Don't suppose I'll be lucky enough to get another unbranded one.
