Make sure you get through to the Retentions team (opt 4,3) and ask the operator for your PAC number. They will ask you want it and say you saw a deal on three which does x-network minutes plus x no. of texts per month for £x. Check their website first. Then say which phone you saw as you like listening to MP3s or something. The operator will no doubt try to offer you something to keep you.

So, are you saying that if you ask for a PAC number and the retention staff try to keep you on Orange, they will match a tariff on the Three network, even though you are not taking out a 3G contract?
The 500 minutes and 100 texts is £30pm on Three. The W800 isn't a 3G handset.!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been REALLY disapointed with Orange over the last few weeks.

Been with them 10 years, and had four upgrades, the last being an 8310 two+ years ago.

Phoned them to see if I could get a V3 for free as they do for new customers. No.

So I left it two weeks and phoned back to see what they could do. Very pleasant lady said there was nothing she could do but she would check with their Retentions, which she did. She came back and said there was nothing they could do, so I asked to be put through to get the PAC. Spoke to retentions myself, and the best they could offer was to move to £30 a month and the could do £29 for a V3, or £79 for a K750i. So much for offering existing customers the same deals as new customers, as both a free on £25 contract.

I went shopping around and found carphone warehouse doing Virgin Pay Monthly deals, £22/month 100 xnet anytime , six months half price, free W800i, £50 cashback for any old phone (Nokia 503 ), and at end of contact monthly price goes down to £14 (or free upgrade).

Then I find this week that a colleague on Orange £25 month was phoned by them and offered a free upgrade W800i. I used to be a big supporter of Orange - now I think they've lost the plot.

I got a reasonable retentions deal today. Was on the Anytime 200 tarrif (£30 /month), monthly spend was anywhere between £5 and £25 over the line rental.

Free W800i (when stock comes back in)
500 x-net anytime minutes
60 texts for 3 months, then 30 texts for the next 3 months

£25 /month on a 12 month contract

Not as great as I was hoping for (I was ideally wanting a bigger reduction in line rental) .... but not too bad either, all things considered.
