What would you change on the java Opera browser? |

I have to admit it's a great program, especially since it was free, but I do have things that I wish were different on it, namely:
1. On my K750i when I type in a url i can't use T9 (anyone else with that prob?)
2. Again when typing url's there is no memory of previously typed url's. I would use the bookmarks but they get erased and reset if the prgram crashes sometimes.
3. Secure login for sites like my bank and for credit card purchases.
4. My gprs reception antenna icon is not on the screen so I can't tell if I am just waiting for the page to load or there is just no signal.
5. It would be nice to be able to select and save pictures I view on there. (I could on an old nokia wap browser I had before).
6. I would add a copy and paste function
So I am getting picky about a free program that I really do love, maybe there are fixes to some of this I do not know about, if so please post them, also please post any other things you would like changed about this browser. |

Yeah, i hate losing my bookmarks too! I'd like to see Opera Mini being able to open multiple pages, and allowing the user to toggle between them... And of course i'd love to be able to see the signal bar as well... As far as saving images, much the same applies to Opera full version as well, if memory serves.

I also have a gripe with the lack of T9 support when typing a url. Last week all my java applications crashed and I had difficulty in restoring my old settings.

Is the predictive input really that important? What are the main things you'd type in 1 url that you'd use in another, barring www, com, net, etc

I tried copying some htm pages to my mem stick but the SE browser can't open them (they have pics) is it possible to open them in the SE browser if I tweak settings ? also can SE default browser view html ?
any info would be appreciated.

I don't think Java apps can interface with the file system like that. I know the recent SE phones allow a lot more in the way of interfacing with the phone but AFAIK the file system is still off limits to Java apps.
The SE browser certainly cannot access the file system. Its basic functionality is accessing the web. It has very little in the way of settings and no local access.
Finally, it appears the SE browser can render some HTML (some testing shows it can recognise basic tags, and is very limited) but as a HTML browser it isn't very good (and this is to be expected really, it is a WAP browser, and a very decent one at that). Stick to Opera Mini for HTML access. |
