ok this is it...I took my k700i to the only one service center in my city(Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico) on last week thursday to get it upgraded to R2AY....they told me they had the version...so i left the phone they told me it was gonna be DONE for the next day(friday)...i went to the service center on friday to pick up my phone...they tried to charge me $50 pesos(about 5 USD)..for the service..i told them they never asked me if i had the guarantee..in fact i asked them if i needed it for a non-charged service..they told me not...when i did need it...ok the deal its that i went to my place wiht my phone...and then i checked the firmware to see if they really did the job(i tought they did cause when i turned it on my screen saver had a white line in the middle)..but when i checked i still had R2L001...im very pissed off...they dont know how to make this ...or i dunno...what can i do?...nottin...they told me they would CHECK AGAIN IF THEY HAD A NEWER VERSION OF MINES....so im really pissed off...

I think you should go back and complain to them about their shoddy service! or write a letter to about this.....

Definately send them a letter of complaint- you can't let people like them get away with it! Try doing the update yourself- surely a k700i usb data sync-station can't cost that much on say ebay? Give it a try.
All you needa do is get a cable, download & install the 'USB driver'. Then once ure done run through the update service online (which can be found in the SE websites Support area).

I had a similar sobering experience a local Nokia service centre. They promise the earth but deliver only a handful of dust. A simple virus removal couldn't be performed because the phone came from abroad, even though i offered to pay the costs involved.
