My friends got the w800, although i havent seen the latter but w800 has an awesome sound quality both on speaker as well as on headphones, it almost buries the ipod mini to shambles. And on top the 2 m.p camera works like a dream. The only thing is , the screen size is rather small and can be cumbersome when u want to look for ur playlist files. |

no I dont think so there. Yes its cool looking but when it comes to sound quality listening to MP3's, its nowhere close to the Ipod line. I had one for a week and it was nowhere as good as my Ipod photo. Mind you, it comes with the Sony EX71's, which are far superior than the Apple earbuds. Choose the K750i, flash it to W800i firmware, get the headset adaptor, then buy yourself some great earbuds...your good to go. You'll get tired fast of the orange color. Looks enticing at first, but after awhile it tends to look cheap. ANyways either phone, you cant go wrong. Just depends if you like the flashy or the classy look. |

I guess since the W800 is quite new you'd get more "oohs" & "ahhs" if you whip it out now, especially since it's THE world's first Walkman-branded phone. Whereas my good ole black K750 looks pretty much like my old T630, so much so that most of my friends didn't even notice I had changed my phone until they saw the quality of pictures I was producing.
But over time, when the w800 is a novelty no more, you just may find yourself wanting to change to a more classic look.
With regard to functionality, check other threads here in Esato. In summary, they're saying that after flashing k750 from R1L002 firmware to the w800 R1K firmware, the phone had a more slick functionality and better-produced images, aside of course from the added "flight mode" function. But flashing to the latest K750 R1N035 firmware improved the functionality & images as well, of course still without the flight mode. Battery time, I think is also lengthened in R1K because you can now use the other functions of the handset without having to keep the phone transceiver on (flight mode), this purportedly doubles the battery time. The downside of R1K is that you lose the flexible menu functionality of the middle button, which becomes a Walkman shortcut that's pretty much redundant with the media button on the left side.
It's a toss up for me. You can get the K750i, and you have the option to flash with R1K (it's not an official firmware though, so you may lose warranty), change the 64mb memory stick with one that's even bigger than the 512mb that comes with the w800 (I got my 1GB Sandisk for P6,490) and replace the headset with HPM-70 when it becomes available (or buy an adapter & use your favorite headphones) & you'd have a w800 with the K750's classic look. Or you can get the w800 and later on buy a different casing for it. Either way, I think the costs would come out almost the same. |
