Well, I hope it picks up. I favored Ericsson over Nokia before simply because they produced better phones feature wise (The T39 for example, and now the T68).

They have been advertising the T68 here in Southern-California constantly. I don't know if people are buying them, because I haven't seen anyone with the T68 here, even though they have them (I'm sure someone has bought one, since they post on Esato).

Hmmm. Completely forgetting the phones themselves for a moment, I think 'Nokia' is a much more fashionable brand name. When it comes to mobiles 'Sony' was never going anywhere 'Motorola' seems to be doing pretty well and 'Ericsson' was OK as well. 'SonyEricsson' is a bit of a mouthful, and I'm not sure whether they've really got an image yet. Being newborn I'm sure they don't have the same connotations as 'Nokia'. When it comes to the phones, Nokia again have a definite image as do Motorola, but SonyEricsson, of which the star product is currently the T68i are looking like a cross between Sony and Ericsson with a bit of Nokia thrown in for good measure.

Just my inane ramblings...

SE's problem is the same problem as Ericsson... their manufacturing time is sooooooooooooooo damn slooooooooooooooow!

Look at how fast Nokia brings products to the market...even if they are just rehashed crap... they keep market interest by constant activity on the shelves.... SE announces killer phones, then don't take advantage of market interest... they wait and wait and wait for everyone to lose interest with their hype.

I wanted the Bond phone... even just a look-a-like... from the time Tomorrow never dies, to the closest looking Bond-phone (R520) was how many bloody years?!?!?!?!

What about Lara Croft's communicator??? ZERO! They pay so much for product placement, and don't use it! They announce the P800... and when the HELL will we get to buy it>?!?!?!?!?!??!!

Don't they get it?!?!!? When you announce something to the public, you'd better be ready to ship thousands of them ASAP to gain market advantage!!! WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THEIR MARKETING ARM?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

SE, Ericsson...hello?!??!?! Anyone home?!??!! DO YOU EVEN HAVE A MERKETING DIVISION?!?!?!?!? Geez! IT'S BASIC MARKETING COMMON SENSE!!!!!!

if want money let them start producing more T300 and start selling them! and a low price 266€ will be good, if they do alot of advertising whit it they will have there 3310. but it is already a bit late because nokia has there 3410 and 3510 already out and selling like hell and the 3610 is being produced. so you must go faster or you wont make it! and don't produce to much of the T600 it wont sell that much, same as the T200!

@jplacson - I agree with you their tv ads is a ho hum compared to the upbeat and creative nokia ads. I guess if they will focus their production in china where labor is abundant and revolt-ingly cheap, they can produce at par with nokia. And to give the competition a one two punch, they should use the money that they saved to pirate those nokia advertising wiz kids.

If they want to succeed in this they better have solid offerings across the entire range, particularly the low end.

I've just been playing with the low-end T200 and I don't like it at all. The blue backlight is dim and gives poor contrast. It's still freaking slow! It's really no better than the R600 which IMO even looks better but still plauged by poor button feel.

The formula for a killer low-end SE phone:

-R600 form-factor
-good keys, this is VERY important!
-easy-to-read white backlights
-fast CPU, come on SE! use those new low-power 90-nanometer chips!
-strong vibrator, SE always f**ks up with this one
-loud ringer, you can always throttle it back when needed
-personalized SMS alerts, ditch the tone and click!!!
-optimize the SMS sending menus for fewer keypresses
-optimize the SMS text entry, it just plainly sucks!
-last but not the least implement my patented SpeedSMS feature. It works much like your speed-dial but instead takes you directly to SMS text entry screen with the destination name pre-loaded so you won't have to fish it out of the phonebook. Get the idea? This is going to be a killer feature and I thought of it and patented it first

Wake up SE! Get the basics covered first before you build your next super-tech device.

Since they only sell one "SonyEricsson" handset, these results are hardly surprising. Delaying the P800 for the addition of the memory stick may have been a big mistake. It is possible that in some markets Ericsson could be withdrawing support just as the P800 is launching!

What I want to know is, why did the T600, etc. take so long. Surely these phones are existing hardware in a new case. Perhaps being greedy and wanting to deplete stocks of existing previous handset stock at higher prices? Each day they do not release a phone, brings them a day closer to the next phone from their competitors...

yessss not easy to be partners and work together, one is from Japan the other is from cold ,dark scandinavia!!! Japan is world-wide known how they are hard-workers they have the disiplin, they so many companies from electronic till cars!!!they are proved with their quality,ERICSSON has been always so slow with producing some-thing new!!!look at the past before T68!!! was only disastare, the phones had very bad Menü and the size and the desighn of the phone everything was old-modisch!!! REMEMBER!!! HOW LONG IT TOOK TO START TO USE T-9 FOR SMS!! AND THEIR PHONES STILL VERY SLOW WITH T-9!!! I am not against to Ericsson,JUST TRUHT !!!! NOKIA WAS VERY GOOD AT THE BEGINING I MEAN UNTILL LAST YEAR; BUT THEN THEY ARE VERY SPOILED WITH THEIR SUCESS!! START TO PRODUCE THE PHONES with less funcktions!!kind of to repeat their products!!MOTOROLA has been always the same level,NO BIG CHANGES!!! there is no compututers against Nokia???samsung with design and battery problems well known!!so what is the future

Only way that :SE: can survive is to reduce its current prices and bring out its products faster than their menus work. As it is the P800 is delayed now I just got news from a friend that the T300 will come out on time but only in limited numbers that wont be enough 2 in around. We would have to wait for the second shipment to arrive in Malaysia then only will there be enough phones to go around. What is the meaning of this ? If they want to capture the youth segment, the T300 should have more curves.
