You can use Windows Explorer to xfer files as well, when the phone is connected to the pc you should be able to see it as a drive and access it as such. You can store the mp3 files in the \MP3 folder there. |

yeah but you cant play the music file in the 'walkman' media player unless you transfer using the disc2phone software. And no way is that software slow!! try transferring an album using bluetooth, and compare it to disc2phone via USB. i think you will find it is MUCH quicker.... |

it uses 100% cpu when its encoding to the default 128kb when I'm transferring say 50 mp3s at once. Wish its just as simple as drag and drop in the Windows Explorer |

May I ask why you need to encode at 128k when xferring files? What would be the benefit of that? I mean when you have mp3 files at 192k or more, why would you go down to 128k?
What good does Disc2phone do other than encoding if you need to, or adding song titles and album titles to the mp3 files?
Just asking out of curiosity; because if dragging and dropping videos works, why wouldn't dragging and dropping mp3's using Windows Explorer? |

You can so play mp3 files in the walkman mediaplayer even if you dont use the disc2phone software. There are no restrictions prohibiting the use of this software, this is just a transcoder and dragndrop software, it does nothing special. Any supported file can be put onto the memorycard in any way you want and it will play in the walkman mediaplayer.
It is not slow, if you dont reencode at the same time, but simply drag and drop, then its just as fast as moving files in normal file explorer.
Sounds like you are transfering music files to the internal memory of the phone and not the memorycard. Note that fast usb transfer speed is ONLY to the memorycard, the internal memory of the phone still use seriel emulation and seriel speeds to transfer. |

there is so much confusion about this in several threads.
People saying things like W800 only supports mp3 (because that's what disc2phone rips), and that W800 has rigid folder structures, or that you can't drag and drop files into W800 and play thru mediaplayer!! Did they even try?
They are making it so hard for themselves. The first thing these people need to do is drop disc2phone and start to learn a bit about their phone

ive bluetoothed files to my phone into my memory card and they dont work in the walkman media player. So i dont think this statement is correct

Disc2phone is just an easy to use mp3 ripper/transcoder/transfer software. It doesnt do anything specifically for the phone.
You dont need it any way, neither to be able to play the files on your phone, neither to be able to transfer at high speeds.
Any supported mediafile, mp3, mp4, m4a etc converted in any way, can be transfered to the correct folders in any way possible to the memorycard and played in the walkman mediaplayer.
Edit:
Then youve bluetoothed them the wrong way (into the wrong folder) or bluetothed nonsupported files.
Any supported musicfile placed in the audio folder in any way will play
Any supported mp4/3gp file placed in the video folder in any way will play

fair enough, i will try this when i get home and then maybe eat some humble pie!! i guess it would work if i dragged and droppped in into the 'mp3' folder in the memory stick, as opposed to just right-clicking the file and sending it as doing that just sends it to the 'sounds' folder. Im no noobie to doing this, just actually thought that u had to use disc2phone |

no problem, I didnt read it as if you were noob at all, just a small misunderstanding about the disc2phone software |
