The backlight on the K750i/W800i cannot be turned off completely in the display options only dimmed down to 50%, however it should go off automatically durlng a call, try a master reset, if that doesn't work it might be faulty.

What? A Master Reset just for that?????
I wouldn't recommended it AT ALL for you will erase permanently A LOT of stuff: themes (it will only leave one on the phone), sounds, pictures and the demo tour video
Try changing the profile, with the "in car" profile the backlight always stays on.
Or maybe some other measure, but the master reset should be your last option.

I think "try a master reset" is the most common answer here at Esato. And you're right, it's for sure the last option to try - in all cases! Many people who recommend it don't even know their suggestion makes people lose themes, sounds, pictures etc.

no mine stays on during calls too, it'll get really dim, but it won't turn off completely.

Even my phone's backlight is on during calls. I would recommend SE to make changes in next firmware so that we may have option to turn it off during calls.

@ Victor017 and CyberVisitor, I forgot to mention in my original post to make sure that you have backed up your phones memory before performing a master reset if you have the facility to do so, Sorry i thought that was common practice.

Is your profile set to 'in car' ?

This profile does not turn the backlight off at all.
