sms issue with k700i |

Hi I have a big problem with my K700i - I cant send text messages!!! The SMS menu under messages>settings is not even there and I get a picture message immediatly from write new under messages.
The story goes like this -
1) Purchase the Orange Sim Card from a local phone shop.
2) Copy old numbers from sim to phone and then insert new sim.
3) Activated sim and all OK to make phone calls. NO TEXT messages!! Probably the most essential use of the phone for me.
I have contacted orange and they sent me a message with updates it came but I on offed and it didnt do any good.
My software info looks like this -
R2AA003
prgCXC125821_EU_1_C
CDA102298/83 R2A cxc125822
R2AA003 EU_2
I have read on howard forums which has a post copied from this site regarding the firmware types and it says that the firmware I need is R2AC003 effectively R2AA003 but made for Orange.
I have also seen a forum post in the esato archives -
http://www.esato.com/archive/t.php/t-82269
This details the issue but it is in the archives so I am sure it would have been resolved by now.
I must make it clear that I have not had a data cable anywhere near the phone. It has been bought on a BT contract and does not need to be unlocked as they do not brand or service lock the phones the same as O2. The messaging works with the BT sim card replaced and I get two options on entry of the "Write New" for picture and for SMS.
Logic therfore tells me its a sim card software issue not a phone one and Orange should be able to fix it without me having to spend any money.
I have been to setup.orange.co.uk and it offers everything but settings for sms!
Can anyone else shed any light on this.
Thanks for your help,

Have you had any luck mate, as mine has just gone and done exactly the same thing, when I just installed a fresh sim card in it. Only wants picture message, any suggestions, or are you still at a loss? |

have you tried checking the message centre number? 99% of the time people cant send messages its because of that.
the number you''ll need for orange is +447973100973 and it can be found under messaging > settings > text message > service centre.
try that
