I have had my T68m(i) for 6 months now and I still have not managed to download a good quality photo type background, especially if it has flesh tones i.e a human face. I am using IR so I am not limited to 4KB. I get a good pic and import it into MyPictures. When I download the pic to the phone or hit Colour Dither you loose the quality completely. This is to do with the T68 colour palette. Has anyone found a simple way of getting the picture into the phone without itlooking crap? All the pics look great on the Esato site but once the are sent to the phone they are very disappointing. I have posted this previously but still haven't had a simple solution. Thanks.

Not much to do about it. 256 colors can't make magic.
In a photo, you have 50 000 - 200 000 different colors, depending on what the photo's about. 101x80 pixels and 4096 colors would show that photo very good, so does the screen of 7650 and surely P800 too, but 256 colors on T68 just isn't enough for that.
You can try to make it better by using a image edidor (photoshop), but don't expect too much of it.

I know it's only a 256 colour display but gifs only contain 256 colours and they are displayed fine on your PC. I remember a previous post about using a certain palette in Photoshop but alas I do not have Photoshop and it all sounded a little bit complicated!

True, a gif is 256 colors. But not always the same 256 colors, meanwhile the T68 is always limited to the exact same 256 colors (T68 colorpalette). That's why some gifs look better, while others...not.

Yep, you are correct. The T68 colour palette is different. That's why you have a nice gif of a lovely young scantilly clad lady, then you hit colour dither and voila a great example of modern abstract art without a nipple in sight ;o) !!!

Or you could go to http://www.tsixtyeight.com and find links to other sites providing background images for the T68 m and i. The German site has backgrounds that look very good on the screen and it makes it look like the screen is 4096 colors. Try it.
